From losing his mother at the age of 2 to delivering 15 flop Bhojpuri films and earning Rs 1.5 lakh per episode of Comedy Circus, When Krushna Abhishek opened up about his struggle

Krushna Abhishek is popular for his impeccable comedy timing and is currently entertaining fans with Laughter Chefs and The Great Indian Kapil Show. The actor has won the hearts of the audiences with his wit, humour, and timing. In an old podcast with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Krushna opened up about his struggle story. The Bol Bacchan actor shared how people often feel that his journey in the industry would have been smooth due to his film contacts. However, he faced many ups and downs in his personal and professional life. I had never done theatre like Bharti or Kapil; I was a dancer. I took up Comedy Circus mainly for money. I was really excited because I was getting ₹1.5–2 lakh for one episode, which felt like a big deal. People also gave me respect as Govinda’s nephew. I was new at that time and thought I could shoot two episodes in a day and earn ₹3 lakh in just one day, which made me very happy. Back then, I was doing Bhojpuri films where I earned around ₹3 lakh for an entire movie, working almost 30 days day and night. So earning the same amount in just one day here felt amazing. People often think that coming from a film family makes life easy. Being Govinda’s nephew, many believe my journey in Mumbai must have been smooth. But that’s not really true. I won’t deny that my uncle Govinda has always been very supportive and has helped us a lot. For me, he is like a father figure, and I respect and love him deeply. His support means everything to me. When I was just two years old, my mother passed away due to uterine cancer, soon after my sister Arti was born. I grew up only with my father, and my childhood was somewhat like the film Kunwara Baap. I never really experienced a mother’s love and knew her only through a photograph. The only memory I have of her is a video where she is seen singing. My maternal grandmother was a well-known Thumri singer from the Benaras Gharana and was also Govinda ji’s mother. Both my mother and grandmother used to sing on the Sahyadri channel. Many legendary artists like Ghulam Ali Khan sahab and Lacchu Maharaj would visit our home. Even though I was surrounded by such great talent, life was not easy. After my mother passed away, my father and I faced many struggles and depended on each other to get through everything. My aunt, who is Govinda Ji’s sister-in-law, Geeta aunty, adopted my sister Arti when she was just a little girl. Geeta aunty was a very close friend of my mother and showcased true friendship. When my mother was battling cancer and knew she wouldn't survive, Geeta aunty promised to take care of Arti and raised her as her own. I feel proud of doing Bhojpuri films. At that time, the industry was doing really well and giving opportunities to newcomers. My first film was Suhaag with Rinku Ghosh, where I played a character in a wheelchair. Honestly, I was quite confused while doing it because I saw myself as a dancer, and suddenly I was playing such a different role. The film turned out to be a huge hit, and after that, things moved very fast. I ended up signing around 25 films and had no time for anything else. I had releases every few months. But later, about 15 of my films flopped. In total, I did 28 Bhojpuri films, but I didn’t get much recognition. My mama supported me, but the struggle was completely mine. I always believed in my talent, but it was difficult to find work in the Hindi industry, so I moved towards regional films. There were times when I couldn’t even afford the rent while living in Versova. My father kept motivating me, telling me that we could manage things only if I didn’t give up. One day, I got a call from Jackie Shroff’s secretary for a film called Pappu Paas Hogaya. They told me that Kashmera Shah would be my co-star. I was excited because I had seen her popular song and already knew about her. On the set, the producer had arranged a five-star hotel for Jackie Dada and Kashmera, while I stayed in a regular hotel. That’s where I met Kashmera for the first time. Jackie Dada would often tease both of us on set. Kashmera was also the first person to see me mimic Jackie Dada. Sudesh ji encouraged me to marry Kashmera. I often joke about her, but the truth is she has always been my biggest support. I entered television because of her. While I was doing Bhojpuri films, she pushed me to try TV. She once told me that a day would come when I would earn Rs 25 lakh in a single day—and it actually happened. Kashmera was the one who asked me to stop doing Bhojpuri films and start with television. She told me 'let's do Nach Baliye, let people recognise your talent because you are not showcasing your talent to the entire India.' I would like to accept that she is behind my success.
