From meeting for the first time to proposal; Parag Tyagi recalls his moments with late wife Shefali Jariwala

Parag Tyagi takes a heartfelt trip down memory lane, reminiscing about his beautiful journey with late wife Shefali Jariwala—from their first meeting to his unforgettable proposal moment. In conversation with his friend Deepak Verma, Parag opened about Shefali like never before.

Parag recalled how fate played its part in bringing them together, saying, “We have a common friend, Sonia. She had organized a party a few times, but either Shefali or I couldn’t make it due to work or travel. One night, I luckily got free early from my shoot, and Shefali had just returned from America that very evening. Neither of us had planned to go, but somehow, we both ended up at the party. Looking back, I truly believe it was destiny that we met that night.”

Sharing his first impression of her, Parag said, “She was sitting in a lower seating area, right in front of me, wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. I immediately noticed her simplicity and grace. Many people know Shefali as the girl from Kaanta Laga, but I never judge anyone by appearances or fame. For me, she was a big name and a talented person, and I was in complete awe seeing her in person for the first time.”

Describing that magical moment, Parag shared, “When I saw her for the first time, everything felt like it was in slow motion. The wind was blowing, her hair was flying, and in my heart, I knew she was the one. I can say with certainty that it was love at first sight. That one glance changed my life forever.”

Parag revealed how their shared love for fitness broke the ice. “She was very fond of the gym. I never had the courage to talk to her initially, but by chance, we ended up at the same gym. Our conversations started with workouts and fitness, and that helped us connect naturally.”

Talking about their first official meeting, Parag said, “She asked me to meet for coffee, and I agreed. In Bombay, people often cycle around at night while sipping coffee or Bournvita. That night, we did the same. It wasn’t fancy, but it was our first date, and it was incredibly special.”

Parag shared that Shefali was initially hesitant about the relationship. “She had a difficult past, which made her and her parents cautious. I stood by her, assuring her that her baggage was mine too. Slowly, we started sharing our feelings, and her parents began to trust me. I feel blessed that Shefali chose me.”

Parag described his romantic proposal, “i planned a proposal with the help from aditya narayan, his wife shweta, and sunidhi chauhan’s husband. at a restaurant, i prepared a heartfelt speech and recorded it. aditya added music—‘my heart will go on’—to make it extra special. when the moment came, the manager played the track, and i proposed to shefali. it was one of the most beautiful nights of our lives.”from friends
