From opening about his son Aaryamann’s depression to joking about wanting royalties from Kapil Sharma: Parmeet Sethi gets candid about his life with Archana Puran Singh

Archana Puran Singh’s husband, Parmeet Sethi, is widely known for his charismatic roles in Bollywood films. He shot to fame with his memorable performance in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and has since explored new avenues alongside his family. Today, Parmeet shares his life with his wife Archana and their sons, Aaryamann and Ayushmann, through their popular family vlog AAAP Ka Parivar. Recently, on a podcast with Pinkvilla, Parmeet spoke openly about his marriage, revealing how he had to keep it under wraps during his early career and his journey of balancing family and fame. Here’s a closer look at his candid revelations and family life.

Parmeet on his bond with Archana Puran Singh

Parmeet Sethi revealed that his relationship with Archana Puran Singh is far from filmy. He explained that his philosophy for a successful relationship is to first be best friends. When you are best friends, you can face any problem together because there is communication and no ego. Parmeet added that after their marriage, he and Archana made a pact to continue treating each other like boyfriend and girlfriend, keeping the spark alive.

Keeping their marriage a secret

Parmeet shared that he and Archana got married in 1992, long before his breakthrough role in DDLJ. However, they decided not to reveal their marriage immediately. He explained that back then, actresses often lost work if they were married, unlike today when stars like Kajol, Deepika, and Alia continue to work. The couple officially announced their marriage only when Archana was pregnant with their son, Aaryamann.

Bharti Singh suggested them to start a channel

Parmeet shared that during lockdown, Archana would post short clips of her daily life, especially videos featuring their house help Bhagyashree, on Instagram. These clips became very popular, with millions of views. People even started uploading these videos on YouTube, which helped them earn some money. Comedian Bharti Singh suggested that Archana start a YouTube channel to post the videos officially. Their first video was meant to be scripted, but they chose to remain authentic, which fans loved.

Parmeet on Aaryamann’s struggle with depression

Parmeet explained that Aaryamann was doing extremely well and was on the verge of playing in the English Premier League as the first Indian boy. Unfortunately, he got injured just before the game. Archana and Parmeet supported him through rehab. Later, as captain of Maharashtra, Aaryamann played in another state to feel better but injured his leg again, preventing him from joining the league. Parmeet called that period very difficult, but Aaryamann eventually bounced back with the help of music.

Archana and Parmeet on their parenting style

Parmeet shared that while he and Archana often travel in business class, their sons continue to fly economy. This wasn’t about saving money, but a conscious choice to keep their children grounded. He explained that they wanted Aaryamann and Ayushmann to experience ambition and hunger, traits usually found in middle-class families. Parmeet added that success feels more meaningful when earned, not inherited.

Parmeet on Archana and him facing a work drought

Parmeet recalled a period when both he and Archana had no work. He said that there was a time when their phones went silent, and finding projects was tough. During this struggle, they were offered a show that wasn’t great, but they accepted it briefly. This helped them regain visibility in the industry, and gradually, new work opportunities started coming their way again.

Parmeet on wanting royalties from Kapil Sharma

Parmeet talked about a time when he and Archana owned a production house and created a talk show format similar to The Kapil Sharma Show. He shared that he used to write scripts while Archana performed stand-ups. When asked about Kapil joking about them on his show, Parmeet took it lightly and joked that he has already asked the comedian for royalties.
