From Shehnaaz Gill to Kapil Sharma: TV celebs who stunned fans with their immense weight loss

Celebrities are expected to look a certain way by their fans, and they, too, must lose weight after becoming overweight. Netizens frequently mock actors for gaining weight. Actors, in particular, have to look nice in front of the camera, therefore staying active and healthy is essential. Shehnaaz Gill

Shehnaaz Gill lost a lot of weight after appearing on Bigg Boss 13. The actress had declared publicly that she was interested in reducing her weight in hopes of looking better and having more work opportunities. She lost 12 kg by eating fewer calories and practising portion control. She had spoken with ETimes TV about her weight loss and how she wanted to prove to others that losing weight isn't that difficult. Shehnaaz avoids exercise in favour of a high-protein breakfast.

Saloni Daini

Comedian Gangubai aka Saloni had spoken with ETimes TV about her weight loss during the lockdown and how she faced criticism for it. Saloni added “I have lost 22kgs during the lockdown. This is the first time I am sharing my weight-loss story. When lockdown had started, I would eat so much ghar pe. Mom would cook momos, butter chicken, cakes and things like that. One day I was sitting in front of my laptop, watching shows. And suddenly, the screen locked and I saw my face on the laptop. I looked very chubby. I was 80 kg or something at that time. It was the point when I decided to lose weight and be fit and healthy. I followed a diet and worked out every day. Now I am 58. The lockdown has made me lose weight. I would like to thank the lockdown because I couldn’t go out and eat junk food.”

Smriti Irani

Former actress and Union Minister Smriti Irani, widely known as Tulsi from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, dropped a significant amount of weight after shocking her fans and friend Ekta Kapoor with an Instagram post. According to sources, Smriti chose a gluten-free and dairy-free diet. Smriti never expected her fans to be so perceptive and discover her weight reduction when she published a photo of herself spending time in the woods.

Mohena Kumari

Mohena is from a royal family and has worked in the entertainment sector as a dancer and actor. She discussed how her body changed during pregnancy, how she gained weight, and how she resumed her dancing to regain her flexibility once her child was three months old. Mohena had then revealed: “The entire journey of pregnancy has changed my body completely. I have gained a lot of weight and my body does not have the agility it used to. But I know that with a little practice each day I can help myself get my energy and agility back. Dance is my biggest motivation and I’m taking the first few steps again.”

Drashti Dhami

Drashti Dhami, the Geet Hui Sabse Prayi actor, spoke exclusively with ETimes TV about how she initially concentrated on exercise to lose weight, which eventually became a part of her daily routine and further added “When I took up fitness, I started off with an aim to lose weight. Initially, I felt I had put on some weight and I did put on weight after I got married. I was in a happy zone and I don’t have any regrets. But after some time I felt I should lose weight and I started working out with that intention."

Kashmera Shah

Kashmera Shah, 50, told how she started working out religiously to lose weight. Kashmera spoke with ETimes TV about her weight loss. She stated “I went on a diet reluctantly. I gave up on rice, bread, and chapatis. I started eating in small portions and within 15 days, lost three kilos. This gave a boost to my confidence and I started working out like crazy. When the lockdown happened, I wore a mask inside the house to make sure that I didn’t binge. By the time the lockdown was lifted, I came down to 59 kg. Today, I am 56.4 kgs and I feel proud that I have achieved my goal."

Bharti Singh

Bharti Singh shocked everyone when she mentioned losing 15 kg before conceiving a child. The comedian, who has repeatedly been used as a prop in body-shaming jokes, was outspoken about it. In an exclusive interview with BT, Bharti announced that she hoped to lose 91 pounds by September 2021. She further added “Even though I am surprised that I have lost so much weight, I am equally happy because I feel healthy and fit. Abhi saans nahi chadhti aur halka halka feel hota hai. Meri diabetes aur asthma bhi control mein aa gaye hain.” As per reports, Bharti followed intermittent fasting and would stop eating after 7 pm till the next morning at 12 pm.

Anchal Munjal

Aanchal Munjal, who was seen in Parvarrish, had to undergo significant surgery, which compromised her health and profession as an actor. The actress admitted that she gained weight due to antibiotics and then it took her time to get back into shape. She had told ETimes TV: “I don’t think you can ever be prepared to be fat. You put in so much effort to lose weight and stay fit and when you have to stop it suddenly, it’s heartbreaking. For six months I had to focus on my food. There was no workout, yoga, or anything. With antibiotics, I bloat up really badly and I used to see that bloating. Today, when I work out I make sure when I squat, I don’t work out using heavy weights. I take care of my diet. No refined sugar, oily food and I only have healthy food.”

Joshua Chhabra

Joshua Chhabra, a model and actor, made a splash when he debuted in Splitsvilla. He stated that he weighed 120 kg in school and later desired to lose weight. He further told ETimes TV “People used to mock me and I wanted to change that. I am a Punjabi guy. I used to eat and I would gain weight. At one point, it just hit me and I wanted to change my look. I started my fitness journey and lost around 40-50 kilos. I got into sports and joined a gym. I adopted a healthy lifestyle. I quit all types of fatty food. Till now, I am very strict about my diet. I have seen that side of life and I don’t want to go back there. It keeps me focused.” Joshua stated that Hrithik Roshan and Virat Kohli inspire him since they are both fearless and have a fit figures.

Aashika Bhatia

Aashika Bhatia from Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi, who was harassed on social media for her weight gain, shocked everyone when one day she released her before and photos. The starlet looked amazing following her metamorphosis and lambasted trolls for calling her "moti," "bhains," and "Fatso."

Rohit Bose Roy is a well-known television personality. The actor revealed to BT that he hit rock bottom in terms of health in 2017. Rohit stated “I was eating wrong and hardly went to the gym. One morning, when I saw myself in the mirror, I was petrified! My belly, the love handles, my sagging chest and the double chin left me aghast. I stopped all things bad... alcohol, sugar and fried food. I did cardio in the morning and weights in the evening. To ensure that I didn’t break the routine, I kept it simple. Having said that, the first four months were tedious, as I couldn’t see much change in my body. However, it soon underwent a metamorphosis of sorts that I hadn’t envisioned. My fat melted away and my muscles started to show. I realised that fitness has to be a journey, not a destination.”
