From Sudhanshu Pandey to Aashish Mehrotra; actors who made an exit from Anupamaa mid-way

The television series Anupamaa has seen several of its key actors exit the show midway, much to the surprise of fans. Among the notable names is Sudhanshu Pandey, who recently announced his departure, joining a growing list of stars, who left the show at the height of its popularity. Here’s a look at some of the actors who made exits from Anupamaa.

Sudhanshu Pandey, the actor who plays Vanraj Shah in the popular TV show 'Anupamaa', has announced his departure from the series. During the live session, he referred to his decision to leave as an "important announcement". Sudhanshu says in the video, "For the past four years, I've been entering your homes daily through a TV show, portraying a character that has received both immense love and criticism. However, I believe that criticism is also a form of love, as it shows that my performance has evoked strong emotions. If you hadn't criticized my character, I would have felt that I wasn't doing justice to the role. I want to tell all of you with a heavy heart that I am now not a part of 'Anupamaa show. I haven't been part of the show since the Raksha Bandhan episode, and since my audience hasn't questioned my absence, I feel responsible to inform you all personally.”

Aashish Mehrotra, who played Toshu, also decided to leave the show after nearly four years. He shared the news on Instagram, reflecting on his journey and the challenges of portraying a character so different from himself. Aashish expressed his gratitude for the experience and the rollercoaster ride that was his time on Anupamaa.

Paras Kalnawat was dismissed from the show due to a 'breach of contract' after he participated in a dance reality show without informing the Anupamaa team. He was swiftly replaced by Sagar Parekh, a decision that Paras felt was unfair. Paras portrayed the character of Samar Shah, the onscreen son of Rupali Ganguly's titular character. His contract with the popular show was terminated in July 2022.

Anagha Bhosale, who played Samar's girlfriend, left the show to pursue a spiritual journey. Her unexpected exit caught fans off guard, as she had been a beloved character on the show.

Muskan Bamne, who portrayed Pakhi, left the series after the show decided to jump five years ahead in time. Uncomfortable with playing an on-screen mother, she chose to exit, explaining that she didn't want to be typecast in similar roles.

Sagar Parekh took over the role of Samar after Paras Kalnawat's departure but also exited the show following his character's death. He acknowledged the decline in TRP ratings and felt that his character's story had reached a natural conclusion.

Ashlesha Sawant, who played Barkha Kapadia, left Anupamaa after the time jump in the storyline. With her character no longer needed, Ashlesha shared that it was a healthy departure, allowing her to focus on new projects.

Alma Hussein, who played Sara, decided to leave the show after her character didn’t get much attention. She has since appeared in other television series, including Dhadkan Zindagi Kii. These exits have undoubtedly left a mark on Anupamaa, with each actor leaving behind a legacy that continues to resonate with fans.

Tassnim Nerurkar, who portrayed Rakhi Dave, exited the show last year. She mentioned that her character was no longer required, and she was given the green light to pursue other projects.
