In the recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, 12th Fail actor Vikrant Massey and IPS Manoj Kumar graced the show. During the episode, Amitabh Bachchan and the stars had some intriguing stories to share with their fans about their personal lives, struggles and the film 12th Fail. Here's what they had to share:

Vidhu Vinod Chopra once scolded Amitabh Bachchan for coming late

Amitabh Bachchan shared an anecdote about how Vidhu Vinod Chopra had scolded him for being late, he shared, "It is Vinod's speciality that he chooses such heart-touching subjects for his films. Thode adiyal hai, lekin mehnati bohot hai. I was working with Vidhu Vinod Chopra and it got late like 2-3 am at night, he then told me 'Amit tomorrow at 6 am on set' I was like are you mad, how will I reach? I arrived 10 mins late and he scolded me, 'You are late by 10 mins'.

Vikrant's heartfelt revelation on doing 12th Fail

Vikrant shared, "I didn’t know a book titled 12th Fail existed. The producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra told me to read the book first and then he would give me the script if I liked the book. It was at around 3 am when I kept the book aside and I started crying. That’s when I realised that this story is God's send. In the film, it is shown that Manoj’s father comes to meet him for the first time at atta-chakki. There a son becomes the father and the father becomes a son. I am 37 now, I started working at 20-21 years old. When I was 17, and I saw my father in a little bit of a distressed state, I thought of taking responsibility. That was the only time, my father and I had a heart-to-heart talk. I needed some money – Rs 10,000. I had never seen his office. He called me to his office. He didn’t even have a proper desk. There was just a patic chair. There was an ashtray and it was totally full. That day he came home and I asked him if everything was fine. We used to stay in 1RK. Dad told me to come downstairs. We had this conversation and I realised that I have to take up the responsibility. So that’s where I connected to Manoj Sir’s story."

Vikrant reveals an interesting anecdote behind RD Burman inspired background music in 12th Fail

Vikrant said, "Vinod sir has a special bond with RD Burman, sir, when we were making the music for 12th Fail, we used only 4 instruments in the background. For 4-5 months he troubled Shantanu Moitra as the sitar wasn't sounding right to him. He called for Sitar from Kolkata and tried other options from Mumbai but wasn't what he wanted. Then after a few months, he suggested bringing a sitar-like RD Burman, Shantanu sourced it from somewhere and brought it from the 1960s, He shared that the wood used in this is giving the right reverb and would use this only.

Manoj's story behind Rs 90 special thali

He said, "When we were in Delhi, we barely had money so I would buy sabji for 7 rupees and we used to one roti for a rupee so I would spend 10 rupees for one meal. Shraddha and I used to think when will we have Rs 90 worth special thali. That used to have gulab jamun and paneer. There was this bhojanalay that used to have the thali. We would set a challenge that once I clear the exams, I'll come to eat it. For me, it was about survival, I would get time to eat only one meal. So to eat that thali we have waited for a very long time."

Manoj reveals people would barter with him for making him work in farms with radishes

He shared, "I love cooking, I find it as a stress buster. I feel going into the kitchen itself will relieve your stress. I have a special bond with Radishes, when I was young, many people would take me to work on their farms in the village and in return they would give me 10 radishes as a salary."

Manoj's emotional revelation on his mother selling her gold earrings

Manoj revealed. "I used to write poems for my mother, she never left my side. She would never tell me that we had problems, she had faith in me and pushed me to achieve my dreams. By selling milk, and doing odd jobs she would keep the house running and didn't let that affect my studies. I still remember that Maa had sold her gold earrings for me when I was in dire need of money. I kept trying to bring them back and I wrote a poem for her."
