Gulki Joshi: It never felt like I was working on my birthday, it felt like celebrating with another family
Amid retakes, packed schedules and the rush of shoot life, Gulki Joshi celebrated her birthday on the set of Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan. While the occasion did not involve a lavish celebration, it turned into one of her most memorable birthdays, thanks to her co-stars and an emotional surprise from her mother, who arrived on set with her favourite mango cake. Looking back, the actress recalls how the simple moments and affection around her made the day unexpectedly special.
Marking her birthday while filming gave the actress a different perspective on celebrations. She says, “Birthdays on set have their own charm. You’re doing what you love while being surrounded by people who become like family over time. This year felt extra special because amid the chaos, retakes, and everything happening around, there was still so much warmth and love. It never felt like I was working on my birthday. It felt like I was celebrating it with another family.”
Her co-stars ensured the day stood apart from an ordinary shoot schedule. She shares, “The cast was incredibly sweet and made sure it never felt like a regular shoot day. There was cake, endless teasing, birthday songs between takes, and lots of memorable moments. These little things are what make birthdays on set special.”
The most emotional moment came with her mother’s surprise visit. She says, “My mom knows me too well, so she surprised me with my favourite mango cake and that made my day. No matter how grown up you become, there is something very emotional about your mother showing up with your favourite things on your birthday. It instantly takes you back to childhood birthdays.”
Choosing presence over presents, Gulki reflects, “The biggest gift I gave myself was simply being present and happy. We are often so busy chasing deadlines and goals that we forget to enjoy moments as they happen. I allowed myself to slow down a little, laugh more, eat cake without guilt and just soak in the love around me.”
Birthday celebrations turned sweeter as Gulki Joshi cut her cake surrounded by festive cheer and happy moments. From candid snapshots to the cake-cutting ceremony, the actress marked the occasion with warmth, laughter and a celebration that was intimate yet memorable.
