Hina Khan to Aalisha Panwar: When TV actors’ roles ended on an abrupt note

Gone are the days, when an actor was shown to go through plastic surgery to end their role and replace them with someone new. In recent times, we have noticed, actors’ roles are cut short abruptly or make random exits to pave way for a new entry. Take a look at times when an actor’s part ended on an abrupt note.

Aalisha Panwar

Aalisha Panwar played double and triple roles in Ishq Mein Marjawan. Her character Tara was one of the strongest female characters, who never feared death. In the show, her character faced death umpteen number of times and escaped miraculously too. But the time she had to make an exit, her character got bumped off with just three shots. Common, Tara deserved a better death. Photo: Instagram

Hina Khan

Hina Khan, who has redefined the vamp role with her Komolika act in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, had the most bizarre exit in the recent time. While after all the wrong doings, Komolika’s character could easily get arrested and be put behind bars. They tried to do so too. But Komolika being Komolika, escaped and re-entered Basu house to seek vengeance. In a dramatic twist, Komolika trips and falls into the Ganges while she tried to push Prerna. Her character almost vanishes and Prerna rescues Komolika’s dress instead. Err… where is her body though? Photo: Instagram

Jasmin Bhasin

News broke out recently that Jasmin Bhasin won’t be a part of Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji as the actress doesn’t want to play the role of a mother. The show took a five-year time leap recently and Happy (Jasmin’s character) will be seen taking care of her husband’s son from his first wife. Jasmin’s role got swapped in an overnight episode and now you get to see Donal Bisht as Happy. Jasmin told Times of India, “The time leap was premature. When the script was narrated to me, I had asked the producers whether there would be a child, too, on the show. I was told that my character wouldn’t get married for at least a year. However, it’s just been six months and there has been a change in plan already. I was unhappy about this sudden turn of events, but I am glad that we have parted ways amicably. You can’t blame anyone, because everyone is dealing with the pressures of ratings and competition.” Photo: Instagram

Abhishek Malik

Abhishek Malik’s character Rohan in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein got blown off in front of cops by fake suicide bomber squad. As weird as it could get? Rohan’s character was all set to leave for London and that would have called for a simple exit. But, the makers decided to kill him instead in a bomb blast. Photo: Instagram

Meera Deosthale

Meera Deosthale’s role as Chakor got replaced by Toral Rasputra in an overnight episode. Meera was not too keen on playing a mother to a teenage daughter in the show and which is why makers replaced her instantly. Photo: Instagram

Gaurav Sareen

The news of actor Gaurav Sareen quitting his show Krishna Chali London came as a shocker to many. Gaurav in a conversation with Times Of India, had stated that he was shocked at the new twist that eventually bumped off his character in the show. "Yes, it was quite shocking for me when I got to know about my character will end in the show. I got to know about it just a day before we shot the scene.” His character suddenly meets with an accident and that’s how Gaurav’s on-screen role bids adieu. Photo: Instagram

Shilpa Shinde

When Shilpa Shinde decided not to play the iconic character of Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain, fans were disheartened. Unable to find a replacement, makers decided to keep Bhabi ji under a veil for a long time until Shubhangi Atre stepped in. No brownie points for guessing, Bhabiji’s role was played by a body double.
