The winner of Indian Idol 12 talks about his future plans

Indian Idol 12 winner Pawandeep Rajan lifted the trophy yesterday after competing with five other contestants Mohammed Danish, Arunita Kanjilal, Sayli Kamble, Shanmukha Priya, and Nihal Tauro. All these six finalists have made a place in audience's hearts with their melodious singing week after week on the show, which has hone on for many months now.Pawandeep impressed with his voice and his music skills - he can play more than one instrument while singing. Soon after his victory we had a chat with him, where he spoke about his future plans.

We are all planning a trip to Kedarnath: Pawandeep

When we asked him what he plans to do next now that the reality show has come to an end, Pawandeep said, "Firstly, we are all planning to go to Kedarnath for around 10 days. I hope that plan works out and we all (contestants) go together. Post that, I will spend time with my family and might plan a few things with them. Once I feel relaxed, then I will plan life ahead."

The top six contestants hope to create music together

Pawandeep had become quite close to contestant Ashish Kulkarni and the two user to talk about composing music together. When asked about that, he said, Yes, we want to do that and Ashish and I will surely do it. In fact we are all planning to book an entire place for ourselves in Mumbai and compose and make music there. So we have bigger and better plans which now we need to work on. I hope we are able to create good music together."

​Pawandeep was born in a musical family

The 25- year -old, who hails who from Uttarakhand, was born in a musical family. His father Suresh Rajan is a singer too, who sings at local functions. Apart from singing, Pawandeep is also good at playing different instruments like keyboard, drums, tabla, guitar. His versatility was one of the reasons why he was appreciated so much by viewers. His interest in music began at a very young age.

He talks about one invaluabe lesson that he has learnt on the show

Apart from honing his singing skills further on Indian Idol 12, he has picked up some life lessons on the show too. He said, "One thing I have learnt is that you must stay grounded always. So many legends came on our show and they are all so down-to-earth. I want to be the same in life and not change ever. This show was like a Gurukul for me."

"I never fought for the trophy, I fought to sing better each day'

He admits that he was slightly nervous on the morning of the finale. "There was a little bit of nervousness, but we all put in our best. I have performed from my heart and I think that helped me get to this point. I never fought for the trophy, I fought to sing better each day," he said.

So what does the young singer have to say about his fellow contestant Arunita Kanjilal?

Since the contestants spent a lot of time together, their bonds grew stronger bybthe day. Pawandeep has made some good friends too. Talking about the equation he shares with the other contestants, he said, "We are like family now." His friendship with Arunita Kanjilal in particular was highlighted on the show. When we asked about that, he said, "We are all very close to each other and our bonds have strengthened over the months."
