They are happy facing the camera and playing a variety of roles today, but for many of these television actors, education has always been of paramount importance. On International Literacy Day today, we drew up a list of TV actors who were as passionate about their studies at one point as they are today about their craft. Here's a look....

The Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali actor has always been studious since childhood. He went on to do his B.Tech in Hyderabad in Computer Science and later did his MBA too in System Operations. He has even worked for an Australian company after finishing his studies, but his love for acting overpowered everything else.

The Imlie show actress has a degree in Bachelor of Dental Science (BDS). She completed her medical studies from Pune and then left medicine for her passion for acting. The actress started her career in the Marathi industry and debuted in Hindi with the show Imlie.

Television actress Ayesha Singh, who is doing the lead role in the show Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, is a lawyer-turned-actress. A lot of her family members are lawyers and before acting, she was assisting lawyers in murder cases and has even interrogated criminals.

Siddharth Nigam’s elder brother Abhishek Nigam, who is currently a part of the show Hero Gayab Mode On, recently completed his law degree from Pune. Even before completing his graduation, he had started acting, but side by side, he completed his law studies.

Hina is best known for her role in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Bigg Boss too made the real Hina Khan a household name. But before entering the entertainment industry, she had completed her Masters in Business Administration from a management school in Gurgaon.

Anupamaa actor Gaurav Khanna has done has completed his MBA. He worked for an IT company and was into marketing for more than a year. He then started acting in television commercials.

The Bigg Boss 14 contestant is an electronics and communication engineer. He completed his studies in Punjab. He was active in extra curricular activities too and used to participate in fests and events and even won an award for design by IIT Delhi.

The Jamai Raja actress Nia Sharma holds a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication. She hails from Delhi and completed her graduation from a college in the capital. Later in 2010, she debuted with the show Kaali- Ek Agnipariksha.
