Jasmin Bhasin reveals when she got thrown out of a film because of not responding to an ‘indecent’ message from a director

In a chat with Siddharth Kannan, Jasmin Bhasin shared raw stories from her journey in showbiz—from her humble beginnings and tough South film phase to an unsettling casting couch incident. She also revealed the toll of overworking and how struggles shaped her into the grounded person she is today.

Her First Salary

Jasmin Bhasin recalled earning her first salary of Rs 5000 while working part-time at an event management company. From creating PowerPoint presentations to helping with production during events, Jasmin was always curious about behind-the-scenes workings—even during her acting days. That early hustle laid the foundation for her grounded work ethic today.

South Films That Didn't Work Out

Reflecting on her brief stint in South Indian cinema, Jasmin admitted her Tamil debut did well, but her Telugu films didn’t click. She confessed she neither knew the right people nor chose the right projects. Her experience left her feeling lost, eventually pushing her to move away from the industry entirely.

Her Struggling Days Were Her “Adventure”

Jasmin described her early days as an “adventure,” even though they were full of hardships. Living on an education loan, she embraced every opportunity. Fighting for her dreams, she didn’t label her choices as struggles then—but looking back, she realizes how far she’s come from those uncertain beginnings.

The Casting Couch Incident That Shook Her

Jasmin revealed a disturbing incident where she was removed from a film after ignoring an inappropriate message from a South director. Despite having shot for 7–8 days, she was told she “couldn’t act.” She stood her ground, proving that self-respect matters more than compromising to stay in a project.

When She Overworked to Survive

Jasmin confessed that at times she overworked—not out of passion, but fear. She believed if she stopped, she'd be replaced. Working on multiple shows simultaneously, her body bore the brunt. “My body has overworked, but not my mind,” she said, highlighting the harsh reality behind maintaining visibility in the industry.
