Kapil Sharma's tussle with filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri and now Anupam Kher over The Kashmir Files intensifies; What went wrong

Kapil Sharma has landed into yet another controversy. This time filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri claimed in a tweet that he was not invited on The Kapil Sharma Show by the comedian to promote his new film. The show otherwise hosts a number of celebs from all walks of life. What triggered from there has led to not just netizens talking about it but also actors like Anupam Kher and Mukesh Khanna have joined in. Here's looking at the timeline of what went wrong and how.

Vivek Agnihotri's tweets sends internet in a tizzy

It all started when a Twitter user asked Vivek to promote his film on TKSS. Vivek did not mince words and said, "I don’t get to decide who should be invited on @KapilSharmaK9 show. It’s his and his producer’s choice whom he wants to invite. As far as Bollywood is concerned, I’d say what Mr. Bachchan was quoted saying about the Gandhis: Vo raja hai hum rank." He further added, "They refused to call us on their show because we don’t have a big commercial star. #FACT."

Boycott Kapil Sharma Show trends

Vivek's tweet came as a shock to netizens. They took to Twitter and slammed Kapil Sharma for only promoting mainstream films and inviting big actors. One user wrote, "Kapil sharma is the circus master of Bollywood. He is not serious about national issues. He is abusing and insulting poor people in the show for making money. No civilised society will allow his hypocricy. He can not understand pain of genocide..Jai Hind." Another wrote, "Boycott Kapil Sharma show. Anyway...I have said earlier also...this show is worth nothing."

Kapil asks user not to believe in half truths

Kapil reacted to one such tweet where a user lashed out at him for not promoting an important film. Kapil wrote, "यह सच नहीं है rathore साहब आपने पूछा इसलिए बता दिया, बाक़ी जिन्होंने सच मान ही लिया उनको explanation देने का क्या फ़ायदा. Just a suggestion as a experienced social media user:- never believe in one sided story in today’s social media world dhanyawaad "

PM Modi's praise for the film sparks #BoycottKapilSharma trend again

After Vivek Agnihotri reshared photos of his team with PM Modi who praised the film publicly, users trolled Kapil again. One wrote, "Yes friends, this is the same movie that Kapil Sharma refused to appear in his show, this is the one that was praised by the Prime Minister, Hon'ble Narendra Modi." Another tweeted, "I love your show but you didn't promote the best films. So I will not watch your show ever."

Kapil Sharma thanks Anupam Kher for clarifying he was invited on TKSS for the film

On Times Now, Anupam Kher, who is part of the cast, clarified that Kapil had invited him two months ago to promote this film on The Kapil Sharma Show but he refused because the film's nature is serious and not fit for a comedy show. Kapil thanked Anupam on his social media account for coming to his aid. He wrote, "Thank you paji @anupampkher for clarifying all the false allegations against me ❤️ और उन सब दोस्तों का भी शुक्रिया जिन्होंने बिना सच जाने मुझे इतनी मोहब्बत दी खुश रहिए, मुस्कुराते रहिये #thekapilsharmashow #Isupportmyself #kapilsharma " (Thanks to all those friends who gave me immense love without knowing the truth. Stay happy and keep smiling)."

Anupam's cryptic reply to Kapil on his 'thank you' note

Anupam Kher reacted to Kapil's 'thank you' note and wrote how it would have been better had the comedian posted the full video showing the entire truth. His tweet read, "Dear @KapilSharmaK9! I wish you had posted the full video and not the half truth. The entire world is celebrating, you also celebrate tonight. Love and prayers always! "

Mukesh Khanna jumps into the picture

Talking to the media, Mukesh Khanna, who had earlier spoken against Kapil and refused to go on the show with the cast of Mahabharat, said, "I don't know why people in the industry prove that they are not part of India. If they don't understand the pain of Indians, then they are not Indians. This film will be promoted by the public. I think this film will become a big blockbuster."
