Laughter Chefs season 3: Sanjeev Kapoor joins for a most intense cook-offs; says 'The experience of being on the show turned out even better than I had imagined'
The kitchen on Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment has seen chaos, comedy and culinary madness, but this week came with a twist no one saw coming. The contestants walked in expecting Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi’s familiar energy and his trademark “lekin…” to announce the day’s challenge. Instead, standing there was India’s culinary legend, Sanjeev Kapoor. The reactions said it all. First shock. Then disbelief. And then a full fan moment.
While everyone was thrilled to see the biggest name in Indian cooking in their kitchen, there was also one big question floating around, “Harpal ji kahan hain?” Because usually, when things get tough, Chef Harpal steps in, softens the blow and sometimes even reduces a judging category to ease the pressure. This time, that comfort was not settling. Chef Sanjeev Kapoor kept it firm and simple. Follow instructions exactly. No shortcuts. No negotiations.
The first challenge was Bombay Halwa - a dish that looks innocent but hides a minefield of technique. Five perfect pieces. Watermelon flavour. Soft, bouncy texture. Glossy finish. Balanced sweetness. One misstep and a star could disappear. The pressure was real, and so were the nerves. Even then, the spirit of the show did not fade. Sudesh Lehri could not hide his excitement at cooking in front of the very chef many grew up watching. Krushna Abhishek found humour even under pressure, while Arjun Bijlani kept the teasing alive. The laughter continued, just with slightly shakier hands.
Then came Cook Two, Bhaap Badi Salan. A bold mix of Hyderabadi salan and Rajasthani badi, bringing two distinct culinary worlds onto one plate. It became less about chaos and more about control, balance and technique.Through it all, Chef Sanjeev Kapoor was not just present, he was setting the tone. A fun but firm reminder that cooking is joy, but it is also craft.
Amid the frenzy, Sanjeev Kapoor took a moment to reflect on his experience. He said, "The experience of being on Laughter Chefs turned out even better than I had imagined, everything was truly wonderful. Whether it’s the audience seated here or Bharti, the seriousness and passion with which you all prepare food is highly commendable. Whenever something big happens in the world of food, it genuinely makes me very happy. I honestly don’t think there is any show based on cooking bigger than this in India.”
