Losing their loved ones to slipping into depression; effects of COVID-19 on TV celebs

The second strain of Coronavirus has infected many of them, due to which, the government has imposed the lockdown. People are suffering and the television celebrities, too, are affected by it. Many of them have lost their lives due to COVID-19 and many are affected by it and are slipping into depression. The citizens along with the celebs are living in fear with this unavoidable doom. Here’s how this dark phase has affected the television industry:

2/9

TV actors, crew testing positive of COVID-19

There is an endless list of television actors who have and are testing positive of COVID-19. The makers are keeping an alternate track ready in case the lead actors test positive. Anupamaa and Yeh Hai Chahatein’s track was altered as Rupali Ganguly and Abrar Qazi of the respective shows got infected with this virus.

3/9

Actors lend a helping hand

Actors like Gurmeet Choudhary, Sumona Chakravarti, Eijaz Khan, Gurmeet Choudhary and many others are helping people with whichever leads possible to treat the underprivileged COVID-19 patients. They have also gone ahead and arranged for beds, oxygen in cylinders, plasma and injections for the patients.

4/9

TV actors losing their loved ones

Actors Hina Khan, Ram Kapoor, Paras Kalnavat and Ashish Mehrotra’s fathers passed away during this pandemic recently. Aman Verma also lost his mother and Ridhima Tiwari’s mother passed away due to COVID-19. It has been a dark phase for everyone.

5/9

Leaving families behind

TV celebs are leaving their family members behind in Mumbai as the shoot locations have shifted of most of the television shows. Seasoned actress Jayati Bhatia, who is shooting for Sasural Simar Ka 2 in Agra, has left behind her 74-year-old mother in Mumbai. Speaking about it, she told ETimes TV, “I have left a 74-year-old mother in Mumbai to come and shoot here in Agra. More than me, she is worried about me. I am not the only one who has left her family member and has gone to work. There have been people who have left their children, family, husbands, wives and we all are in the same boat. During such a tiring time especially the pandemic you can’t even ask your friends or neighbours to check on your family as nobody is allowed to enter your society as the entire state is under curfew and all these things makes you worry. It is worrisome that God forbid something happens there will be nobody to help you immediately. You can’t ask help from friends or relatives because everything is under lockdown.”

6/9

Angst within the celebs against the system

Kamya Panjabi was infuriated after hearing the Nashik oxygen leak case in the hospital. She questioned the authority about why they didn't invest in the healthcare infrastructure in the past one year. She called this to be "shameful" and Kavita Kaushik backed her statement by adding that "temples" and "statues" are admitting the patients and treating them. Karan Patel also attacked the government by sharing videos on his Instagram whereas Nakuul Mehta keeps sharing poetries depicting the current situation on his social media account.

7/9

Slipping into depression

Yeh Hai Chahatein actress Aishwarya Sakhuja is upset about how people are still not being responsible and not following protocols. The actress has shifted to Goa for the show's shoot and poured her heart out about the effect the pandemic is having on her. She wrote, "NOT JUST #ahaanadiaries LONG POST AHEAD BUT I INSIST YOU READ IT. P.S kindly ignore my wrong grammar if i do go wrong with it. Have too many thoughts in my head but not in the right mind frame to frame them all right. It's been a few days since i last posted. I just didnt feel like it. Not that i didnt have enough content or i didnt get enough pictures clicked but I JUST DIDNT FEEL LIKE IT. With our country going through such a crisis and hearing such depressing news all around me i just didnt feel right posting a post about CLOTHES and talking about my FICTIONAL CHARACTER. IT HIT ME,it hit me hard when my on set assistant @shailendrajsingh912 lost his sister to #covid_19. IT HIT ME when two out of my college besties' families got infected with #covid_19. IT HIT ME when my family in India and abroad started calling me every few hours checking on my health and asking me to reconsider my decision of continuing to work in the present circumstances. IT HIT ME when shooting in GOA lost its charm. #covid_19 had hit my brother's family last year and from my 3 year old nephew to the oldest member of the family, everyone had to go through their respective set of 'covid' experience but somewhere at the back of our minds we knew they would come out of it and god was kind they did come out of it. But now i see that hope kinda flicker. This strain of virus is scary and the news around me is down right depressing. This shit just got real. So i guess with a verified account and a few thousands following me i just wanted to use this platform to request all of you reading this to be more empathetic. Lets be all more human and mindful towards each other. Instead of spending all our time and effort in just trolling unnecessarily, lets ask if we can be of any help. WE NEED TO BE MORE HUMANE AND LESS GUILTY OF BEING ANONYMOUSLY STUPID AND UNSYMPATHETIC. We gotta be more responsible and be able to correct all those who even now have a chalta hai attitude. MASK UP FOLLOW SOCIAL DISTANCING P.S. im not sorry for using #ahaanadiaries to vent."

Dilip wrote, “Our trio’s broken today. But the memories will always stay with me. Will miss Amit and his wisecracks more than I can say. He was a lovely man, a treat to work with and a delight to watch in action. Never thought I’d be writing something like this for him. May his soul achieve sadgati, and may God give us the strength to cope with such a huge loss.”

Mahabharat actor passed away

Mahabharat actor Satish Kaul, who shifted base in Ludhiana, succumbed to COVID-19 at 73 on April 10. Producer and actress Preeti Sapru had confirmed the news with ETimes TV and said, "He was a very affectionate man. I have known him since I was just 11/12 years old. He would come to our house. I did one film with him, a Punjabi movie Suhaag Joda. I always gave him the respect of a senior actor of Punjabi cinema. He has done many Punjabi films. He worked in Hindi films and TV shows as well. He lived in Punjab only for the last few years. This lady was taking care of him when he fell and got operated for his back. He was in the old age home of an NRI which was a beautiful place but he had some problems with the manager there and he left the place. Then he was living with a lady nurse who was taking care of him. He came to Mumbai to my house last year with his sister and her son for lunch. May God rest his soul in peace.”
