Mujhse Shaadi Karoge to Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain, these reality shows couldn't live up to the hype

Reality shows seem to be the flavour of the season. From Bigg Boss to Indian Idol and Khatron Ke Khiladi, reality shows are topping all the TRP charts and people are really invested in them. Well, it's natural that viewers enjoy the real side of celebrities. But not all shows connect with the viewers, some shows despite having good faces, fail to impress the viewers.

Let’s take a look at shows that couldn’t live up to the hype…

After their immense popularity in Bigg Boss 13, Paras Chhabra and Shehnaz Gill have been roped in for yet another reality show, Mujhse Shaadi Karoge. Both of them are looking for their suitable partners in the show and the format is somewhat similar to Bigg Boss as they are all living under the same roof. The celebs and their respective suitors, just don't seem interested to get married. Despite Shehnaz and Paras’ popularity, the show is not able to garner good ratings and viewership. It has become a snoozefest and was also rumored to be going off-air.

Hosted by superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain was a quiz show for kids. The show was the Indian version of popular American show, Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? However, even Shah Rukh Khan’s presence could not save the show and it tanked badly.

Hosted by popular filmmaker Farah Khan, reality show Lip Sing Battle was a unique music competition series. In the show, several popular Bollywood celebrities were invited in each episode to compete against each other in a lip sync battle of famous songs. Though a lot of popular faces graced the show, it could not garner good ratings.

After the popularity of Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, the makers came up with yet another season starring TV actress Ratan Rajput. Even though the concept was a hit amongst the audience, Ratan Ka Rishta bombed and did not garner good viewership. It did not have the right amount of masala to attract the audience.

Hosted by Shah Rukh Khan and Saumya Tandon, Zor Ka Jhatka was yet another reality show that was adapted by American reality show Wipeout. The show was based on a series of challenges in large pools of water and mud. Unfortunately, this show too couldn’t live up to the hype and flopped.

Just Dance was a dance-based show which was judged by one of Bollywood's best dancers Hritik Roshan along with Farah Khan and choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant. Hritik’s presence in the show was the highlight and created a lot of hype amongst the fans, however the show did not impress the audience very much and the makers didn’t even consider making a second season of the show.

The reality-based on the technique of past life regression, Raaz Pichle Janam Ka had a completely unique and intriguing concept. In the show, various people participated to learn about their past life and the effects of it in their current life by a Mumbai based psychologist. Despite having a new and experimental concept, the show was not a big hit. The makers did bring two more seasons of the show, but it never became a big hit amongst the audience.

The concept of Pati, Patni Aur Woh was borrowed from a popular show, The Baby Borrowers. In the show, five celebrity couples participated and were tested in parenting. Big names like Gaurav Chopda-Mouni Roy, Gurmeet Choudhary-Debina Bonnerjee, Juhi Parmar-Sachin Shroff, Rakhi Sawant-Elesh Parujanwala and Apoorva-Shilpa Agnihotri participated in the show. However, the show failed to connect with the audience and was considered a flop.

The first four seasons of comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge were a hit, but the last season which was judged by Akshay Kumar turned out to be a flop show. The show consisted of three mentors, Zakir Khan, Mallika Dua and Hussain Dalal but it lacked the charm and failed to do well amongst viewers. Due to a controversy between Mallika Dua and Akshay Kumar, the show created headlines, but that was it.
