Nitin Rao: Becoming a father has grounded me and given my life a new purpose
Actor Nitin Rao, known for his work in shows like Mahakali – Anth Hi Aarambh Hai and Chandragupta Maurya, is embracing a deeply personal new chapter—fatherhood. Married to actress Gurpreet Kaur since December 2022, the couple welcomed their baby boy in January 2026, and the experience, he says, has been transformative.
“Becoming a father has been life-changing. It’s a very different and beautiful feeling,” Nitin shares. “It has added more calmness in me. It grounds me, gives me more purpose, and adds a whole new level of motivation to everything I do.” The shift, he explains, has also deepened his emotional understanding of his own father. “Now I understand my father’s point of view more. He passed away three years back after COVID—I miss him even more now.”
Speaking fondly about his son, Nitin says, “My baby is God’s soul. Now it’s like, jo bhi kaam karna hai jaldi se karo aur ghar jaao, bete ke saath khelo.” The couple has named their son Rudvansh Singh Rao, blending both their surnames. “As my wife is a Sardarni, we used both surnames—it sounds more royal and powerful together,” he adds with pride.
On the professional front, Nitin is gearing up for the upcoming films Ranger and Raaka. “My audience will definitely see me soon,” he says, adding that he is currently being selective about his projects. “I want to be part of work that truly adds value to my journey.”
When it comes to the kind of roles he seeks, the actor is clear about his preferences. “I’m drawn to strong, layered characters—roles that have depth, substance, and leave a lasting impact. Whether it’s positive or negative doesn’t matter to me. I enjoy playing realistic characters more,” he shares.
Nitin, earlier featured in films such as O'Romeo, Samrat Prithviraj and Rajinikanth-starrer Darbar, and was also seen in Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web, O'Romeo, Chandrayaan 3, Abey Kuruvilla.
