Priya on working with Sheizaan Khan in Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan: Our off-screen bond is just as warm and genuine
Actress Priya, who is currently seen in Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, shared that she is enjoying her time shooting with Sheizaan Khan, who plays her brother in the show.
She said, "Working with Sheizaan has been a wonderful experience. He is such a good human being with a great personality. He brings a positive energy to the set which makes the work smooth and comfortable. His professionalism really stands out. Even though we play siblings on screen, our off-screen bond is just as warm and genuine. It never feels like working with a co-actor, he truly feels like a brother to me."
They even share common interests that help strengthen their bond. She said, "We share many common interests and hobbies, such as music, poetry, food, working on our acting craft, and discussing scripts. These days, we often have fun playing with Sheezan’s pet dog, Tipsy."
Asked if there are any fun or memorable moments from the sets, she couldn't pick one. She said, "We’re always teasing each other and having a blast. One day, during a scene between my character and Sidhu (played by Sheizaan), where our mother was scolding him, he had to exchange a look with me. I was trying to stay serious, but seeing him made us both burst out laughing. Sheizaan couldn’t stop laughing either, and the director kept saying, 'Madhu, give him the look!' But every time I looked at him, we would crack up again."
"At one point, during his close-up, he completely lost it, had to pretend to cough and step outside to control his laughter, and then came back to finish the scene. And as soon as the take was over, he ran after me jokingly shouting, 'Madhu, wait! You're not getting away from me! We keep having such playful, fun moments all the time. Moments like these—fumbling lines, funny expressions, playful teasing—make the set so lively and full of memories," she added.
She is all praise for the actor and called him a wonderful human being and an excellent actor and dancer. She said, "Sometimes, in a scene, he has to play his character in very different ways. For example, when he played a drunk character as Sidhu for the first time, he performed it so gracefully and beautifully that everyone was amazed."
"Or in romantic scenes, action sequences, and most recently, in the scene where he brings Murli’s family in his car pretending to be the driver, he played the character in a completely different way from Sidhu. Sheizaan Khan, guno ki khaan (Sheizaan Khan, a treasure trove of qualities). Many times, his performance amazes me. 'How does he even think of this?' He’s such a brilliant actor, and I learn so much from him," she added.
Priya confessed that she has learned a lot from Sheizaan. She said, "There are many things I picked up from him. For example, since I come from a Punjabi background, sometimes my Hindi carries a Punjabi touch, and he helps me polish that. He guides me on how to pronounce certain words and make small adjustments in my acting. If I ever struggle to understand a scene or am unsure about what I should feel or what emotion to portray, he’s the first person I go to, and he always helps me completely."
"Sheizaan is incredibly dedicated to his work, and it’s truly a privilege to share the screen with him. His dedication and the way he approaches his craft teach me so much. Working with him, I notice the tiniest details—small expressions and subtle nuances—which help make my acting more interesting and make my portrayal of Madhu even more powerful," she added.
Even Sheizaan keeps complimenting her and appreciating her for her work. She said, "I’ve received so many compliments from Sheizaan after our scenes. For example, in our brother–sister scenes, whether emotional, playful, or when avoiding our mother, he always tells me that the scene turned out really well and that it looked so natural. It doesn’t even feel like we’re acting; it feels like real brother–sister fun is happening on screen."
"All these moments are very close to my heart. Thinking about these memorable scenes and the compliments I’ve received makes me so happy and motivates me, and I feel that I am learning and doing my best work," she concluded.
