The 1.4 km WEH-BKC connector will link Western Express Highway directly to BKC, cutting travel time by 35 mins. It aims to decongest Vakola, Kalina, Kurla, and surrounding areas, improving commuter flow between Mumbai’s eastern and western suburbs.

Construction of the WEH-BKC connector is 85% complete. Arm 2 is ready, while Arm 3 is finishing deck slab work. Only one 54m span remains. Final touches and safety checks are underway, with the April 2026 opening expected as per MMRDA’s plan.

Final works include waterproofing, wearing coat, anti-crash barrier installation, and painting. MMRDA ensures all safety measures meet standards before opening. These efforts will make the connector durable and secure for daily commuters and commercial vehicles.

The connector spans 1.4 km with four-lane (500m) and two-lane (900m) stretches. Lane widths and curves are planned to handle peak-hour traffic efficiently, ensuring smooth entry and exit to existing SCLR and WEH junctions.

The direct two-way link between BKC and WEH will cut travel time by 35 minutes, reduce congestion on feeder roads, and decongest key junctions at Vakola, Kalina, and Kurla. Daily commuters and commercial traffic will benefit the most.

Improved connectivity will enhance BKC’s accessibility, benefiting employees, logistics, and businesses. Smoother traffic flow may encourage commercial growth, property development, and attract investors to Mumbai’s central business district.

MMRDA supervises all construction stages, ensuring quality and timely completion. Extra staff monitor Arm 3’s deck slab and finishing works. Regular inspections maintain standards and keep the April opening on schedule.

With finishing works underway, the WEH-BKC connector is expected to open in April 2026. Commuters will benefit from faster travel, reduced congestion, and improved east-west connectivity, marking a milestone in Mumbai’s urban mobility.
