Ramanand Sagar's epic saga Ramayan actors and Mukesh Khanna slam Adipurush, 'Ram' Arun Govil calls it 'Hollywood ki cartoon film'

The highly anticipated film 'Adipurush,' starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, hit the theatres on Friday and was immediately panned by netizens and actors for its sloppy VFX and 'cringeworthy' dialogues. Prabhas plays Lord Ram, Kriti Sanon plays Sita, Saif Ali Khan plays Raavan, and Sunny Singh plays Laxman in the film. Users also called out the 'Tapori slangs' used in the film by divine characters like Hanuman and Raavan.

The film's trolling also grabbed the attention of Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan actors Dipika Chikhlia, Arun Govil, Sunil Lahri and others. Here's how they reacted to the film and the trolling.

Ramayan should not be remade again: Dipika Chikhlia

Dipika Chikhlia posted a video on Instagram reacting to the film Adipurush and said, “Namashkar, For a long time I have been thinking about making this video but then I thought I shouldn’t talk about it. I would not like to comment on the film Adipurush or give any tips as I have not even watched the film yet. However, I will talk about the future and every now and then in the years, there is a new Ramayan made either in films or serials. For us Indians, Ramayan is our ‘Dharovar’ and that's why I feel that we should stop making Ramayan anymore."

Every time it is remade, there is a controversy: Dipika Chikhlia

Dipika further shared how the epic saga ends up in controversies, every time it gets remade, "Every time when it's remade, there is some controversy over it. Ramayan is a sacred subject for Ramji, Sitaji, Lakshmanji, or Hanumanji. Instead of that, we can teach Ramayan in schools and institutions because it might give a new direction and mindful learning for the new generation. That is all I would like to say as I am not trying to point it out at anyone.”

Hollywood ki cartoon film: Arun Govil

Arun Govil got candid about his reaction to the film Adipurush, the Ramayan actor shared, ''What was wrong with the depiction we have all known and loved for all these years? What was the need to change things? Perhaps the team doesn’t have proper faith in Lord Rama and Sita, and that is why they made these changes, it is not done to turn the Ramayan into a Hollywood ki cartoon film."

It is highly disappointing, you can't play with your culture: Sunil Lahri

Sunil Lahri, who played the character of Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, reacted to the poor portrayal of the film. He reacted, "You can't play with your culture in the name of doing something different, especially those who are our own. The characters are not defined. The audience doesn't find any emotional attachment to the scenes. In fact, the dialogues are also very (poor)."

"Can you imagine Hanumanji saying lines such as 'tel tere baap ka, kapda tere baap ka'? Or Meghnad will use lines like 'abey chal nikal le'? Or Raavan will come on a bat instead of Pushpak Viman? Or why would Meghnad and Lakshman fight underwater? I am very sorry but I never expected this from a filmmaker of this calibre," he added.

The whole team should be burnt: Mukesh Khanna

Mukesh Khanna shared a vlog on his channel reacting to the film Adipurush, the actor has been protesting against the film. He urged the 100 crore Hindus of India to ‘wake up’ and join the protest to halt the release of the film. He also cursed the team of Adipurush and said that they should be burnt alive at 50 degrees. He said, "They should not be forgiven. Yesterday, I said on my channel that this whole team should be burnt standing at fifty degrees".
