Remo D'Souza's wife Lizelle breaks down emotionally recalling his heart attack episode; says "First call I made was to Salman bhai, I remember him telling me 'I’ve told the doctors that they think it is me'

Remo D'Souza and wife Lizelle recently appeared on Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa's podcast where they gave audiences a sneak peek into their life. From how they met to their love story, the couple revealed some unknown chapters of their life. During the interview, Lizelle recalled the time when Remo suffered a heart attack and she broke down into tears. She revealed the first call she made was to Salman Khan, who arranged everything quickly. Lizelle called him God sent and shared Salman told her, 'I’ve told the doctors that they think it is me'

We were dancers with Ahmed Khan’s groups. When he started his group, he had two groups. One were of dancers and the other was of models. There were models who were very good looking but they had nothing to do with dancing. But they were paid more and they would have AC vans. We would work hard and be under the sun. They would chill in vans. There we first met. Lizelle was from Bandra and I used to get irritated seeing her. (Photo: Instagram)

Remo: We were once travelling to Hyderabad for a shoot. While travelling everyone was having fun in the bus and I fell asleep. She was sitting behind my head and started to massage my head. That’s how our love story started. After three four months everyone got to know we were dating. When everyone got to know about us, they started placing bets that our relationship won’t last more than a month. One of them said I would sit on a hot stove if their relationship survives more than a month. (Photo: Instagram)

Lizelle: He would test if I’ll be able to be with him for the rest of our life. He would make me sit in a local train from Churchgate to Mira Road and Mira Road to Churchgate. My mom had even felt we won’t be together. I had applied to Emirates as an Air hostess and I had to go for medical. That time, Emirates posting was in Dubai. He said I don’t believe in long distance. I took a gamble that if this relationship doesn’t work out, I would do something else. I didn’t go for the job. After that there was no looking back. (Photo: Instagram)

Lizelle: When we started seeing each other I was 20 and he was 24. When our son was born, I was 21 and he was 25. We had not disclosed to our parents about our marriage. When I got pregnant that time everyone asked us, “Tum Dono ne Shaadi kar li?”. We told them we got married in a temple and my mother was all suspicious. (Photo: Instagram)

Lizelle: When my son was born, Anubhav Sinha and Ratna had come to see us in the hospital. They were like Liselle Abhi toh Shaadi kar le. Only Hansal Mehta, Ahmed Khan, his wife and Anubhav Sinha knew that we were not married. Anubhav told me, “Abhi toh Shaadi kar le.” And I told him I don’t trust Remo. He gave me a look that you have got a kid from him and you are saying you don’t trust him. (Photo: Instagram)

Lizelle: My mother came and asked listen you have got your son baptised. She told me that you will have to get married in a Church; this temple wedding ceremony will not be considered. I kept hanging her for 6 months, when usually Baptism happens within 40 days of a child's birth. Then we got married in Chruch on October 5th. My son also attended the wedding. (Photo: Instagram)

Lizelle: I remember it was Puneet’s wedding, same day. I remember we had gone shopping a day before the wedding and did all the arrangements to go for the wedding. Our trainer came and asked us to train and I told him I don’t want to as we have to go for the wedding. I was training, he was just walking on the treadmill. I finished my workout and went to the washroom and was talking to a friend on a call. When I returned I saw him sitting down. He told me I don’t feel like training aisa lag raha chest mein kuch atak Gaya hai. (Photo: Instagram)

Remo: Everyone should know this whenever we have a pain in our heart in the middle we think it is because of acidity, it’s not like that. I had a pain in the centre of my chest. Mere dimaag mein aaya he nahi ke aisa kuch ho sakta hai. I asked my trainer to wait and lied down on the floor but there was no relief. I told my trainer I’m not feeling well, let’s not train today. He felt I was making an excuse. The best thing was listening to my body's signals. I asked Lizelle to just go home, I couldn’t stand and just sat down in the lift. I started to bend, and my wife got scared. I reached home on the 12th floor, and started to cough and felt like puking. (Photo: Instagram)

Remo-Lizelle: She quickly put her i-watch on my hand and it showed my ECG had issues. We tried it again and the results were the same. She told me let's go to the hospital and for the first time I said yes. I never take medicines in my life even during a fever. It was the lockdown time and there was no driver. It was a big car, she did not know how to drive the big car. By luck it was a Friday, today also I get scared whenever it is a Friday. I called all my friends and nobody was available. Our car passed a mosque and my rakhi brother Tanveer was coming out from the mosque and I asked him to sit in the car. He asked me to quickly take it to the hospital but the entire road was jammed. Remo-Lizelle: The moment the doctor checked me, he pressed an alarm which notified all the other doctors that there was a serious case. We were supposed to shoot for Bigg Boss that day, and I was on a call. The doctor came and said Remo has had a heart attack. I disconnected the call. I am a very tough person, I suddenly felt I had become a small person. The first call I made was to Salman bhai, he was on another call. I messaged him that I'm in Kokila and Remo had a heart attack. In the meantime, Varun Dhawan called me, he had COVID that time. I made him speak to the doctor who told VD the ECG is not normal. (Photo: Instagram)

Lizelle: Amidst all these, Salman Bhai called back and by that time I was just crying. Touchwood to that person, Salman bhai he is God sent. Sometimes it’s not about someone being there financially, it's just being there. You suddenly feel you are very small and there should be someone who you can trust. Salman bhai told me Lizelle just relax. He understood I had become all hyper. He told me in the next 2 minutes doctors will be there and all the doctors came down. (Photo: Instagram)

Lizelle: Salman bhai was on the call, he told me I have spoken to the doctors. I remember him telling Lizelle I’ve told the doctors that they think it is me. He told me don’t hesitate in anything. Throughout the surgery bhai was on and off on the call with me. Doctors told me it would be 20 minutes but it was 45 mins to 1 hour. I was quite scared. I informed Remo’s brother. I remember one thing, he was going inside the operation theatre and I caught his hand and told him kuch karna nahi… (she starts crying and breaks down). He told me I won’t leave you. Lizelle: I remember Salman bhai calling me and saying Lizelle it is a 100 percent blockage and Remo has signed the document. He said just let it go I’ve spoken to the doctors and touchwood everything went well. (Photo: Instagram)

Many of my friends were getting calls and messages asking if I had gone for surgery to lose weight. My mom always wanted me to lose weight, she passed away in 2018 and in 2019 it just came to my mind that I'd do it for her. I messaged my trainer one day from that time there was no looking back. Till Remo had a health scare.
