Shabir Ahluwalia, Jigyasa Singh, Gashmeer Mahajani and other TV actors who quit their popular TV shows midway

It’s heartbreaking for fans to see their favourite actors quit their successfully running TV shows. Moreover, it’s not easy for them to easily accept the replacement actor in the same role. Of late, many celebrity exits from popular TV shows have left fans in a state of shock. Jigyasa Singh has just quit Thapki Pyaar Ki 2, few days back Gashmeer Mahajani left Imlie. Here’s a list of all such actors:

Shabir Ahluwalia, who became a household name with Kumkum Bhagya is quitting the show after being a part of it for almost 8 years. The actor is all set to take up a new role in a new show produced by Yash Patnaik. Rumours about his exit from Kumkum Bhagya have been doing the rounds for a while now. Moreover, fans also expressed their anguish towards makers over the same.

Thapki Pyaar Ki 2 actress Jigyasa Singh has quit her hit show. It is because of some health issues that the actress has been forced to take this step. She is going to be replaced by Prachi Bansal. The show is close to Jigyasa’s heart which made it difficult for her to move away. Talking about her decision to quit, Jigyasa shared with BT, “It was extremely difficult. I was quite disturbed on the last day of the shoot. But I have accepted the fact that I have to move on. Everything happens for a reason. For now, I just want to take some rest and focus on my health. I want to be absolutely fine so that I can work for a long time without any break. It was a very tough call for me, but I feel that everyone should put their health on priority.”

Akshay Kharodia, who plays the role of Dev Pandya in Pandya Store, is quitting the show too. The actor who is all set to embrace fatherhood in the month of April is leaving the show because he wants to spend time with his wife, Divya Punetha. A source informed BT, “Akshay’s wife is a gynecologist and is posted in Uttarakhand. She can’t quit her job, so, Akshay has decided to be with her. Also, since she is seven months pregnant, she won’t be able to travel. It has obviously been a difficult decision for the actor to quit an ongoing show, which is doing well on the rating chart. Everyone on the set was emotional when he broke the news of his exit.”

_{Gashmeer Mahajani, who rose to fame in the Hindi TV industry with his role of Aditya Tripathi in Imlie, quit the show some time back. A source close to him told TOI, “It was quite clear from the first day of the shoot that Gashmeer will continue to shoot for his Marathi films and for web alongside Imlie, to which the makers had agreed. But as the story progressed and the show started doing well, Gashmeer was not able to take up other projects. He reportedly gave only 10 days in a month to the makers to shoot his sequence which was not enough. After a lot of discussions, Gashmeer finally quit the show. His last day will be in mid-January.” He has been replaced by Manasvi Vashist.}

Nehha Pendse, who replaced Saumya Tandon in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, has decided to quit the show too. Sources told BT that the reason behind her quitting is the long commute, which has taken a toll on her health. ETimes TV learnt that Flora Sainin might step into Nehha’s shoes to play Gori mem next.

Mohsin Khan, who was loved as Kartik Goenka in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai quit the show due to a generation leap. The actor decided to walk away from the show because he wasn’t comfortable with the leap that makers sought to introduce. A source close to TOI told, “a source told TOI, "Yes Mohsin is planning to move on. Since the show is going in for a generation leap, he wouldn't want to play an older character. So he decided to take a short break. Along with television, he would now want to try out different mediums like OTT and movies.”

Shivangi Joshi, who was the face of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai for around 5 years, had a reason quite similar to that of Mohsin Khan to quit the show. The actress decided to step down instead of continuing to play an elderly role. Moreover, she was looking forward to taking up new projects too. Shivangi bagged Balika Vadhu 2 soon after her exit from YRKKH.

Before Nehha Pendse, Saumya Tandon essayed the role of Gori mem in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. She quit the show in 2020 and was replaced by Nehha. Citing her reasons, Saumya had shared, “Well, you can say that it’s an impractical decision to quit a stable job, that too, in an established show. But, I realised that being employed and earning a regular income was not exciting enough any more. I want to do projects where there is scope for growth as an artiste. Having said that, it does not mean that 'Bhabi Ji...' did not contribute to my growth, I had a beautiful journey on the show. However, I have played this character for five years now, and I don’t see myself doing it for another five years.”

Shilpa Shinde’s exit from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain was one of the most controversial exits. The actress had left the show owing to differences between her and the makers. She accused the producers and the creative team of favouring another actress of the show and mentally torturing her. Shilpa also accused of her payment not being increased. She was replaced by Shubhangi Atre, who is now being loved in the role.

Hina Khan quit Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai after being a part of it for 8 long years. Her reason to quit was also a generation leap. Apparently, Hina was not on good terms with co-actor Karan Mehra. Moreover, her decision to quit didn’t go down well with the producers of the show too. Later, the actress was seen in Ekta Kapoor’s Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2. However, she quit it too owing to dissatisfaction with her track. Hina was also looking forward to taking up new and big projects.
