Shreya Ghoshal’s spontaneous duet with Diwakar turns Indian Idol into a live concert experience for Fatima Sana Shaikh
The new season of Indian Idol is already delivering unforgettable moments under its nostalgic theme, Yaadon Ki Playlist, and last night’s episode proved just how magical the stage can get. Fatima Sana Shaikh, who appeared as a guest to promote her upcoming film Gustakh Ishq with Vijay Verma, was treated to a soulful surprise when contestant Diwakar performed a heartfelt 90s classic, only to be unexpectedly joined by judge Shreya Ghoshal.
The spontaneous duet set the studio buzzing, transforming the set into what Fatima described as nothing less than a personal concert. “Felt like a live concert for me. Thank you so much Shreya for singing. And Diwakar, your voice is just like honey, dil ko sukoon mila,” she said.
Shreya, who is known for her instinctive musicality and generosity toward budding singers, revealed that she simply couldn’t resist joining in. “I couldn’t stop but join in. You sang so beautifully. No matter what happens, you still sing well — even with a bad throat,” she told Diwakar, praising his resilience and effortless charm on stage.
Fashion designer Manish Malhotra, also present on the episode, applauded the duo’s chemistry. “I’ve been watching Shreya sing a lot of times — it’s mesmerizing. And today Diwakar, you were amazing,” he added, perfectly summing up the energy of the evening.
With judges Shreya Ghoshal, Vishal Dadlani, and Badshah steering the season, Indian Idol: Yaadon Ki Playlist continues to recreate the melodies of the 90s while spotlighting exceptional new talent like Diwakar. The night’s impromptu duet will undoubtedly remain one of the season’s most cherished moments.
