Urfi Javed calls Chetan Bhagat a 'pervert'; he terms her accusations of #MeToo 'fake': Who said what

Chetan Bhagat has sparked a huge row with Urfi Javed after his recent remarks on her outfits that apparently 'distracts boys'. Urfi responded to him with angst by sharing his leaked Whatsapp chats during #MeToo movement. It led the popular fiction writer to issue a clarification on Twitter. At a literary event, Chetan Bhagat called out Urfi Javed for distracting the youth with her outfits. He said, "Phone has been a great distraction for the youth, especially the boys, spending hours just watching Instagram Reels. Everyone knows who Urfi Javed is. What will you do with her photos? Is it coming in your exams or you will go for a job interview and tell the interviewer that you know all her outfits?" Chetan didn't stop there and added, "On one side, there is a youth who is protecting our nation at Kargil and on another side, we have another youth who is seeing Urfi Javed's photos hiding in their blankets."

Urfi in reply to Chetan's accusations wrote, "Stop promoting rape culture you sickos out there! Blaming a woman's clothes for the behaviour of men is so 80's mr @chetanbhagat. Who was distracting you when you messaged girls half of your age? Always blame the opposite gender, never accept your own shortcomings or faults! People like you are misguiding the youth, not me. Encouraging men to put the blame on the woman or her clothing when they are at fault."

In one of her stories, Urfi wrote, "Men like him will always blame the women rather than accepting their own shortcomings. Just because you are a pervert doesn't mean it's the girl's fault or what she is wearing. Unnecessarily dragging me in a conversation, commenting on how my clothes are distracting young boys is such a f**ked thing to say! You messaging young girls isn't a distraction for them though."

Urfi shared screenshots of Chetan Bhagat's WhatsApp chats that were leaked during the #MeToo movement. It sees Chetan trying to 'woo' a girl. When the chats had surfaced last time, Chetan had clarified in a lengthy FB post about his intentions.

A part of Chetan's note had read, "I realized I was married and this was not about looking for any action. I just had not felt that kind of connection in a while. Maybe I was going through a phase, maybe these things just happen, or maybe I felt the person felt the same too based on our conversations (which I don’t need to repeat here). However, it was stupid of me, to feel that way and to even share that with her. I just told Anusha about it as well, and apologized to her for doing the same. I should have had better judgement, but I guess I erred a bit there. Maybe I misread the friendliness. Also, I am not completely sure because it was long ago, but the ‘wooing’ bit may have come from a conversation we had about how nobody woos anyone anymore and how sometimes one misses being wooed."

Chetan wrote, "Have never spoken to/chatted with/met/ known someone where it’s being spread that I have done so. It’s fake. a lie. Also a Non issue. Haven’t criticised anyone.And I also think there’s nothing wrong in telling people to stop wasting time on Instagram and focus on fitness and career."
