Vishal Gandhi: For intense scenes, I would completely immerse myself and that would affect me
Actor Vishal Gandhi who's seen in Tose Naina Milaai Ke, believes one of the most important lessons he has learned over the years is how to separate his personal life from his characters. Looking back at his early days as an actor, Vishal admits he used to become completely immersed in emotionally demanding roles.
“I took acting very seriously,” he says. “For intense or emotional scenes, I would completely immerse myself in the character and often isolate myself to get it right. But sometimes that would affect me personally.”
With experience, however, came balance. “Over the years, I’ve learned how to switch on and switch off,” Vishal shares. “I still give every scene my best, but now I enjoy the process more and don’t carry the character home with me.”
The actor credits this change to a simple philosophy that guides him both professionally and personally, he says, “Have fun while working, but don’t take the work lightly. That mindset has helped me grow not only as an actor but also as a person.”
Once he understands the emotional dynamics, he focuses on making the character his own. “I like adding a personal touch through body language, mannerisms, or even a unique way of delivering dialogues,” he says. “These small details help make the character feel real and distinct.”
Known for his work in shows such as Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani, Tamanna, Meet: Badlegi Duniya Ki Reet, and Bandhan Saat Janamon Ka, Vishal believes acting is a journey of constant learning. And for him, mastering the art of leaving a character behind after the camera stops rolling has been one of the most valuable lessons along the way.
