'Yeh ilzaam dil pe chubhta hai', says Sheezan Khan on missing his old self, Tunisha Sharma case and more
Sheezan Khan recently left the fans stunned with his performance in Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin by delivering an impactful role. In a recent podcast with Motor Mouth, Sheezan got candid about the 'Tunisha Sharma case', the struggles he faced on returning to work and more.
On his comeback and difficulties
Yes, it was difficult to come back after everything that had happened. At one point, even producers were scared to take me. Those who really know me well were also trying but then one thing or the other kept happening. I had even fallen severely ill, I suffered from a respiratory tract infection. I had a show and the next day I was supposed to shoot I got a call from the production but then I had to refuse it because of my health. It took me a long time to get back in shape for the same.
Sheezan talks about how he never took his sisters name for work
Until my case, a lot of people never knew that Falaq and Shafaq were my sisters. I used to do walk-in auditions and never take my sisters' names for work. Even for Alibaba, I had gone for a walk-in audition. I was out of work as my previous show went off-air abruptly. So after cracking the role, they come to know I am Falaq and Shafaq's brother. Then the case happened and everybody came to know. We do discuss our work, but we never use each other's names.
Current situation of the case
The situation is that I am out on bail, the case is still going on. The dates come and I have to go for the hearing. However, the court has been really kind in letting me work and let me go outside of India. I had done Khatron with the court's permissions. My lawyer has been putting a lot of effort into ki main baizzat bari ho ja, un, and the case ends soon. India mein cases bohot zyada hai aur judges bohot kam. Paisa toh definitely lagta hai. A lot of people were on bail, but they didn't have money to pay for it.
His time in jail and what changed him
I was in jail for 70 days; my judicial custody happened on 31st December, and I got bail in March. By the time I got bail, I became a different person. A lot of things change, you come to know that you are not the same anymore. I used to be a chirpy person, but now I do my scene and I am sitting alone. I am not sad, but I am okay with being alone. Luckily, I haven't turned bitter but it has made me not to rely on others.
On missing his old-self
Sometimes, I do miss the old Sheezan. I don't know if I want him back but I would want that yeh case khatam ho. Yeh ilzaam dil pe chubhta hai. I didn't have to explain myself nor did they ask because they knew me. I still have the video of my sisters' reaction when I got bail. I had no idea about it. I came to know a day before that I got my bail, I didn't sleep all night, next morning I sat for the process and when I got out I felt very happy but then came the reality. I had to face the world.
When his friends vanished
When I came out all I wanted to see that those whom I called my closest, where were they. I thought they would be standing for me, but nobody was there. Those who were like brothers, who would come home frequently, all of them vanished. And few were good politically connected too, I never make bonds because of your profession. But those friends vanished, I didn't expect them to help me. All I wanted them to be for my mother.
Why Sheezan cut off from his friends
One of them bumped into me once, and he was like 'aree tujhse baat karni hai,' and I refused. We were friends for 8 years, but when I was in jail, they didn't even bother knowing. I just told him that I wish them well but I don't want them to be a part of my life anymore. It was all because of my mother and my sister that I was sitting outside today.
