The show is just a year and a half old and has already got on to the nerves of the viewers. It might be topping the TRP charts due to Karan and Preeta's romance, but it's taken them a year and some 200 episodes just to realize their feelings for each other. Also, the antagonists Prithvi smartly saves himself every time Preeta and Karan try to expose him. Sherlyn, who is pregnant since almost 9 real months now, just doesn't seem to have plans of delivering the baby.

The love-hate saga between the lead pair was initially loved by fans but then it lost its charm after bizarre tracks were introduced. The aged characters also refuse to sport grey hair. The show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai will complete 10 years in a few days. The show, which is loved by audience for its story-line, has now been dragged enough. The show looked promising when it was launched. However, with time, the originality of the story began to die, with makers taking too many cinematic liberties. Rather than looking like Salim-Anarkali's eternal love story, the show now looks like a typical love saga, where the lovers face opposition from their families due to the difference in their social status. The show absolutely fails to make sense any more. From a love story to a revenge saga, it has touched every genre in the library. The protagonist is back from the grave, according to the antagonists but actually she never died, just had a facial cosmetic surgery.
