I am blessed to portray the role of Lord Shiva for the second time in my career: Vinay Gowda

Kannada actor Vinay Gowda, best known for his performance as Lord Shiva in mythology show Hara Hara Mahadev, is yet again set to portray the role. The actor has bagged a new project and will be seen as Lord Shiva again in the upcoming devotional based show ' Yediyuru Sri Siddhalingeshwara'. In an exclusive chat with ETimes TV, the actor speaks about playing mythology characters and much more...

The elated actor, who is set to don the Shiva avatar again says, "I am blessed to portray the role of Lord Shiva for the second time in my career. I will be seen as Lord Shiva again in the upcoming devotional based show 'Yediyuru Sri Siddhalingeshwara' Not every actor gets this kind of opportunity to portray the same character often."

The actor who was lately seen playing the role of King Shravana Chakravarthi in the show 'Ughe Ughe Mahadeshwara' was head over heels in love with the character and said, "Playing King Shravana Chakravarthi was one of my Bucket list characters. It was exciting to play the role of a king from the ancient era."

"Unlike the other character in daily soaps, there was no one reference I could look up to play the role of mythology character. Although there were stars who played the role of shiva in the movies earlier. I wanted to come up with my own wave. Frankly speaking, meditation helped me cool down on my emotions and brought the Lord shiva in me." mentions Vinay.

Vinay's portrayal of Lord Shiva in the mythologies series 'Hara Hara Mahadev' has earned him praises. "Hara Hara Mahadev was a take-off in my life. We worship 'Kalabairaveshwara' (one of the incarnations of Lord Shiva) at home and I have a tattoo of it also in my hand. But getting an opportunity to play the role of my ideal god was surely a coincidence. For me to get the role of Lord Shiva is a pure blessing." shares Vinay.

The actor further talks about the various challenges he went through while playing the mythological characters. Taking a stroll down memory lane he recollects saying "Picking up on language was quite a task for me. I would go bonkers upon receiving my scripts and dialogues. It would be very long too. So, every night, I used to get back home after the shoot and work on my language. The initial days were very tough. But things eventually changed by each passing day."

The actor brought about a new wave in the telly world by setting a benchmark for the mythological character through his masculine body. "I was asked to cut down on my weight by the makers. So, I lost 8 kilos in just ten days. The makers were very particular about the character and also encouraged me. They gave me enough time to cut down on my body weight. Apart from that, I didn't touch non-vegetarian food during the shoot as I was playing the role of Lord Shiva."
