Marathi actress Amruta Dhongade
is all set to enchant the audience again with her
new show Chandane Shimpit Jashi
. The actress is playing yet another challenging role after her successful TV show Mrs.
Mukhyamantri
. In an exclusive chat with Etimes TV,
Amruta Dhongade shared her excitement about her new character Charu, her dream of shooting in Mumbai, and why she wanted to do something different after Mrs. Mukhyamantri.
Talking about her new project Chandane Shimpit Jashi,
Amruta
said, "I am very excited about the latest project. It's a subtler yet strong character that shoots my excitement to another level. I have always said that I am very similar to the on-screen role
Sumi
that I play in Mrs. Mukhyamantri. The audience has accepted me as Sumi and I am more than confident that they will welcome and appreciate Charu as well."
Amruta wanted to play a different character after her TV show Mrs. Mukhyamantri. Talking about it, she said, "People had started calling me Sumi off the screen as well and it is more than any achievement to be known by the character's name. I am sure now they are ready to see a subtle, soft yet versatile Charu in
Chandane Shimpit Jashi
. I wanted to do a different role than I had played in Mrs. Mukhyamantri and when they offered me to play the lead in Chandane Shimpit Jashi, I felt fortunate. I believe that this could have been impossible without the support and love of my dear audience."
Sharing her excitement about shooting in Mumbai for the first time, Amruta said, "I will be playing Charu, who is a girl from Mumbai. She is fun-loving, puckish and playful. It would be a dream come true for me to play a Mumbai girl because I have always wanted to experience the life of a girl in Mumbai, but till now, it has been limited only between Pune and Kolhapur. So, to act in a serial based in Mumbai will accomplish both my dreams, first, to stay in Mumbai in real life and second, to play the same on-screen. So everything just aligned for me and I didn't have to think twice before accepting the offer to play the role."
Amruta wants to dedicate her role to women who are shouldering their family's responsibility and still dreaming big despite the challenges. Elaborating on the same, Amruta said, "There are a lot of girls like me who would dream big but just because of the tough circumstances, they had to let them all go. Even I belong to a middle-class family. I have seen many people around me who have sacrificed many of their dreams. I am so grateful that I am able to fulfill my dream as an actor, and that was only possible because I believed in my dreams and never doubted them or me. The character I would be playing is a lot similar. Charu, at this very young age, has a lot of responsibilities on her shoulder. Yet she never lets her dream down and fights for them. I am sure this story would be a motivation for many. Hence I am trying to dedicate this character to inspire them in every possible way."
