Police complaints to vandalizing the sets; Top controversies of Marathi TV in 2018

2018 has been full of controversies in the Marathi TV space. From vandalized the sets of a TV show to complaint against the content of a TV series, here’s a quick look at the top controversies of Marathi TV this year.

Tuzhyat Jeev Rangala

In January, the show Tuzhyat Jeev Rangala faced the heat of the Teacher’s Association. The association alleged the show of maligning the image of teachers amongst the students with its controversial content.

Bigg Boss Marathi

The extreme PDA between some contestants namely Rajesh Shringarpore and Resham Tipnis in the show apparently didn't go well with a section of viewers. A complaint has been lodged against the show in Nashik alleging that the contestants and the show were promoting vulgarity and extra-marital affair.

Julta Julta Jultay Ki

On 6th July, 2018, few locals from Kerli village of Kolhapur district allegedly attempted to vandalize the set of the show. Also, they tried to damage the shooting equipment and few cars around. According to the reports, Gautam Koli, the director of the show, was also attacked by the locals.

Chala Hawa Yeu Dya

The Agri community recently raised objections against the show featuring jokes in Agri language and accent. And so, one of the leaders of the Agri community wrote a letter to the team of Chala Hawa Yeu Dya, demanding an apology for mimicking the Agri language.

Tula Pahate Re

Some unknown viewers have protested against the content of the show as the storyline of the serial revolves around a relationship between a college-going girl and a 40-year-old man. One of the social activists had even given a complaint to the Pune District Collector against the show. According to the activists, the story carries content that can potentially have a bad impact on the culture of Maharashtra.

Lagira Zhala Ji

Actresses Kiran Dhane and Purva Shinde, who earlier played the roles of Jaydi and Mami in the show Lagira Zhala Ji, quitting the show midway turned controversial. The actors have been replaced due to remuneration issues, as per close sources.
