Exclusive: VJ Parvathy on becoming the first-ever title winner of the reality show ‘Super Queen’: It was a life changing experience for me

The celebrated reality TV show Super Queen has come to an end, with VJ Parvathy crowned the coveted title of the show. In an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, the actress opened up about her incredible journey and the horizons that the show had broadened in her. The actress said, "Super Queen was more than just a reality show; it was a head-turning experience in life."

'I was reluctant at first'

While speaking about participating in Super Queen as a contestant, the actress said, "At first I thought it would be a ‘run-of-a-mill’ reality show, and I was reluctant to join the bandwagon. And winning the title was something I least anticipated then. But the show was a lifetime experience, and it made me look back at life with a new perspective." She also added, "Earlier I was also worrying about dates and schedules, concentrating on my performance in Daily Soap Puthu Puthu Arthangal while preparing for the different challenges of Super Queens. But I'm glad that everything turned out really well. "

"A lifetime experience"

During the interaction, the actress looked back at her journey to win the coveted title. She said, "This 3-to-4-month journey was a rich life-time experience for me." The show has given me every possible experience. It has revealed my romantic side, emotional side, fashion sense, etc. By the end of the season, I realise that this show has assisted me in recognising my true potential. When the stage was given to me, I became more aware of my talents and personality."

"It's not just a reality show."

The actress strongly feels that Super Queen is not just a reality show. She said, "Working as a nurse in the cancer institute for a day was an unforgettable memory. By the end of the day, I felt very emotional for the children who were cancer patients there. Their faces were full of life, and they were supposed to be playing and be happy at their age. But they were undergoing chemotherapy. It moved me deeply. The other day I got to be a parotta master. Everyone in the show experienced something new during the Labor round; contestants went picking the rags with corporation workers, fed stray dogs with blue cross volunteers, cooked food in Amma Unavagam (state funded subsidised restaurants). It was not just a reality show."

"Healthy environment and friendly competitors"

While quizzed about competing with her peers (eleven other contestants/Tamil TV Celebs), Parvathy said, " Every other individual contestant was raised up in a different environment. Coming together has helped us to mutually learn and grow. Ira Agarwal is a professional boxer, and I was blown away by 'Survial' Aishwarya's Animal Flow, which I think everyone should learn. The learning came in all sizes. Be it changing the costumes in the middle of the performances with just two to three seconds to spare, in which Lavanya mastered the art, or the dancing skills of Sreethu, I could keep listing the things I learnt from the co-contestants."

She also added, "Competing with fellow artists has created a healthy atmosphere for us. We cheered like close friends when other contestants performed, and the motivation of other contestants made me push my limits too."

"From ‘Puthu Puthu Arthangal’ Pavi to Super Queens Parvathy"

Parvathy also thinks that the show has revealed a lot about her personal side. She said, " I am not an artist who often reveals her personal side or is outspoken. I am barely active on social media. But this show brought out the lighter side of me. Bringing Amma to the show was very special for me. I had never taken her to such events before. Through Super Queen, I also recognised my strength, which is to bring an emotional side to my performances. "

She also added, "I am also thankful that the show has brought a wide recognition of ‘Parvathy’ among the fans. Earlier, they used to recognize me as ‘Pavi’ from TV soap Puthu Puthu Arthangal. But now they address me as ‘Super Queen’ Parvathy. When I was a host, my duty was to bring out the personalities of the stars and who they were as people behind the curtains. How often do we get to know the personality of a host ? I am really glad that this journey has brought out my personal traits. "
