Bigg Boss Telugu 6: 7 reasons why the Nagarjuna hosted season is disappointing than the previous ones

Nagarjuna hosted Bigg Boss Telugu season 6 is set to conclude on Sunday (December 18). The reality TV show that came with the tagline - 'Entertainment ki Adda Fix', tried to entertain the telly audiences and fans with its share of highs and lows. However, this season has reportedly ended up on a disappointing note due to many factors. Our ETimes TV's recent poll also proved the same with a majority of respondents on various platforms calling the season a 'Flop'. Here's a look at factors that might have been responsible for the season's performance:

2/8

Lowest premiere ratings

The graph of this season started on a disappointing note when the ratings of the grand premiere episode on September 4 reportedly recorded the lowest TRPs when compared to the previous seasons of the reality TV series in Telugu. The effect of the Asia Cup 2022 cricket match between India and Pakistan is evident on the show's premiere, TRP report suggests. The show has registered the highest in the 'Hyderabad' category when compared to the usual 'U+R' and 'Urban' category. The week's average TVR for this season failed to surpass the bar set by its predecessors, too.

Order of ratings of Bigg Boss Telugu premiere:

Bigg Boss Telugu 4> Bigg Boss Telugu season 5> season 3> season 1> season 2> season 6 - This season is at the last in order of viewing

It in fact set the momentum of the show and its graph was nearly the same with minor crests and troughs with better figures over the weekends than weekdays' average rating when compared to the previous seasons.

3/8

'Poor performance' of contestants

The graph of this season started on a disappointing note when the ratings of the grand premiere episode on September 4 reportedly recorded the lowest TRPs when compared to the previous seasons of the reality TV series in Telugu. The effect of the Asia Cup 2022 cricket match between India and Pakistan is evident on the show's premiere, TRP report suggests. 4/8

Tasks

The show kickstarted with a series of entertaining tasks and familiar nomination tasks especially during the initial weeks which eventually affected the interest of BB fans. While a section of netizens criticised the makers for the same, demanding for some intriguing physical tasks, the makers might have acknowledged the feedback and introduced some innovative tasks in the latter half of the season.

5/8

Contestants and their 'loops'

This season has witnessed a few contestants constantly looking for 'loops' in the rules of various tasks that affected the challenges. Bigg Boss also mentioned the same during the season mentioning that even a few successful tasks did not work due to the performance of the contestants. The performance of contestants like Geetu and Inaya have also tested the patience of the contestants with their gameplay.

6/8

Lack of BB couples

Besides tasks and the persona of the contestants, it is those romantic tracks that also help fans and viewers to root for the contestants and follow the show. During this season, Arjun Kalyan had a soft spot for Sri Satya but the latter did not entertain him in the show. Surya and Aarohi were linked but they maintained that they are nothing beyond good friends. Inaya revealed that she has a crush over Surya but it failed to strike a chord with fans.

7/8

Shocking evictions

This was the season of some unexpected evictions of promising contestants like Abhinaya Sri, Sudeepa, Baladitya, Geetu and Inaya. These shocking evictions have indeed affected the interest of the viewers and their respective fans as well. It also earned backlash on social media where a section of fans called the eviction of Geetu and Inaya 'unfair' and alleged the makers of being 'biased'.

8/8

LIVE streaming on OTT

This was the first season where the show was telecast on TV and also a deferred LIVE streamed on a popular OTT platform. This enabled fans to follow the show beyond the TV version but also 'leaked' the events of every episode that aired at 10PM on weekdays, which might have affected the interest of the telly audiences. This is also touted to be one of the reasons behind the low viewership of the season. This was also confirmed by none other than host Nagarjuna Akkineni. The actor-host stated that he, too, was worried about the dip in viewership, but the makers have assured him that they are quite happy with the viewership and asked him to continue doing what he is doing.

"The world is slowly shifting to 'convenient viewing' from 'appointment viewing'. Initially, I was even worried about the sudden dip in viewership. But the subscriptions of the app (OTT platform streaming BB Telugu) has gone up. They are very happy and so am I," stated Nagarjuna.

Not only BigBoss, even other TV Telugu serials start with a Bang creating lot of enthusiasm but gradually fadeout mainly because of poor scripts go on adding unrealistic storyline and episodes clearly visible that a storyline that cld have been concluded in 60 episodes ie 10 movies time( whereas story in a movie is completed in 3 hours in a TV serial shld not be elongated beyond 30 hours to make it interesting for the viewers. But channels& producers are greedy in elongating with unnecessary and unrealistic characters and storyline just to prolong 30 hours story into 300 hrs in the process matured& shrewd viewers loosing interest in the serials.you may take the example of Kartheeka deepam,Grihalaxmi to cite a few.Only the latest serial " UPPENA" is really refreshing with entirely new but realistic storyline of such joint families were very common till 30 to 50 years back in small towns& villages. The script&casting is good and direction is very good regardless of TRP ratings.Certainly educated and matured audience are really appreciating and anxiously looking forward to the next episode. There is very good scope to make this serial long running with realistic storyline showing the various problems being faced by women and children under the tyranny and dictatorial behaviour of the male members etc and how wives overcome with braveness and determination setting a morale and eye opener to other such exploited women.Reg the failure of BigBoss,no prior planning as to how to explore the hidden talents of the participants selected for their talent but appears the same is done in a hurry to make big money with many advts but when viewers are getting bored to watch scripted unrealistic daily episodes
