From being a beautician to losing 10kgs due to sickness, a look at the lesser-known facts of Archana Ananth aka Soundarya

Archana Ananth aka Soundarya, who shot to stardom with the popular Telugu daily soap Karthika Deepam, turned a year old today (January 3). The show continues to rule the TRP charts and her performance as Soundarya in the show is widely acclaimed. She is reprising the role in the Kannada version Muddhu Lakshmi as well. On the occasion of her birthday, here’s a quick look at a few lesser-known facts about the supremely-talented actress.

Archana is born in Bengaluru. Her mother tongue is Tamil but she is raised as a proud Kannadiga. Her mother is a government employee while father, who hails from Hassan, Karnataka, is an actor too.

Archana’s parents are eloquent in Telugu and she too quickly picked up the language. After Kannada, she loves Telugu and the Telugu TV industry that has given her success with Karthika Deepam. She has stated the same in one of her recent interviews too.

Archana has always looked forward to working in Telugu. She was approached by the team of Karthika Deepam while she was auditioning for a Tamil show and she eventually landed a lead role in the show.

Soundarya has been plump right from her childhood. However, she lost over 10kgs ever since she started working for Karthika Deepam due to gastric issues. She later focused on shedding weight by cutting down on junk food and strictly following liquid and semi-liquid diet.

Archana is a trained beautician and fashion designer and doesn’t quite miss an opportunity to display her talent. According to sources close to the show, Archana has been instrumental in finalising the make-up and look of her character ‘Soundarya’ in the show. The team was experimenting with the costume design of her character until the first 30 episodes.

In one of her recent interviews, Archana admitted that she doesn’t watch TV despite being a TV actress. Adding that she doesn’t find time to watch TV, Archana revealed that she prefers to watch her serials on OTT platforms.

Archana admires TV actress Haritha and her performances. However, Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu is her all-time favourite.

She has worked in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu. But Archana aspires to act in Telugu cinema and Hindi TV someday.

Archana, who plays a bold, gutsy and straight-forward humanitarian in Karthika Deepam, is actually scared of lizards in real life. She has confessed the same in her recent interview too.
