UP govt to increase prices of affordable houses by Rs 2 lakh

The Uttar Pradesh govt is planning to increase the cost of flats under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) by Rs 2 lakh. Currently, affordable houses under PMAY scheme costs Rs 4.5 lakh. The decision was taken during a meeting of the state government with the builders’ association in order to woo more private builders. In case the state govt increases the price, the beneficiary have to pay the extra amount. The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has set target to build 13,500 affordable houses in 2018-19, 18,000 for the next financial year, and 4,500 in 2021-21, which add up to 36,000 units.
