A pregnant woman, 26, who lived in a UP village declared open defecation free (ODF) by the government, delivered a child in an open field where she had gone to relieve herself. Tragically, the newborn was taken away by some wild animal soon after the birth as the woman lay unconscious there near Chambal ravines, far away from any medical assistance. The woman Shilpi said, 'I had gone to the field to relieve myself when I had labour pain and gave birth. Soon after, I fell unconscious. However, when my relatives found me after two hours, the baby was missing.' Her husband Sunil Chauhan said, 'Every family in the village have toilet built with the help of financial aid by government, but when I contacted gram pradhan Gajendra Singh for the same financial aid, he refused to help as my residential address in Aadhar was of Ragunathpura. However, after showing documents of ancestral property including farm field, he accepted that my original roots are of Jodhapura village.' After the incident, local administrative team comprising SDM Bah, Abdul Basit, block development officer Pinhat, R K Singh and gram pradhan Gajendra Singh met the victim's family.
