Industry 4.0: Why manufacturing industry is quickly going digital

Initially a slow transition, the manufacturing industry seems to have accelerated its pace towards Industry 4.0 due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Industry 4.0 is a term used for the fourth industrial revolution. Under which industries will adopt the use of connectivity, advanced analytics, automation and advanced engineering. These changes are reportedly helping companies increase efficiency, improve speed to market, create new business models and enable high-levels of product customisation. The introduction of ‘cobots’ has helped manufacturers put robots side-by-side with human on factory floors.
