Ahead of a protest in Delhi, messages circulated through WhatsApp groups, mosque announcements, Instagram reels and X posts urging members of parts of the Muslim community to stay away from the demonstration. Some widely shared posts warned that while protests may last a few hours, their consequences could continue for years and advised people not to participate or even go near the protest site, citing possible scrutiny in case of unrest. Clerics and community figures were also reported to have circulated similar cautionary messages, a trend that has grown since the anti-CAA protests and Delhi riots investigations. A student said his father discouraged him from attending, advising focus on education and career. Meanwhile, some posts and religious leaders emphasised avoiding risk, while others said peaceful protest remains a democratic right.
