Iran Seeks Return Of 3 Tankers Seized By India In Return For Hormuz Safe Passage: Report

Tehran has asked New Delhi to release three seized oil tankers in return for allowing India-bound tankers safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, amid the Gulf crisis following US and Israel’s attacks on Iran, Reuters reported citing sources. The Iranian ambassador met Indian foreign ministry officials to discuss the issue, though no official response has been given by either country. The three vessels—Stellar Ruby, Asphalt Star, and Al Jafzia—were intercepted off Mumbai in February for allegedly carrying sanctioned Iranian oil linked to illicit trade. The tankers remain under investigation by Indian authorities as tensions in the region continue to impact energy shipments and maritime operations.
