The Legal services day is celebrated across the nation on November 9, every year. It was on this day in 1995 that the Legal Services Authorities Act was enforced. On this day, legal services are provided free of cost to the weaker sections of society. In 1995, the Supreme Court was the first to offer its free legal service and Sikkim was the first state to implement the service in the same year. The court offers free legal aid and advice to the needy, disposal of cases through mediation and amicable settlement.
