Queen of Children’s Fiction, JK Rowling celebrates 53rd birthday today

Joanne Rowling, better known the world over as J K Rowling, will celebrate her 53rd birthday today with the crown of the Queen of children’s fiction still firmly on her head. Best known for her seven-book Harry Potter series on the ‘Boy-who-lived’, she has spanned a whole empire on her own. JK Rowling has come a long way since she was a struggling single mother when the first Harry Potter book was published, spawning several book series and movie installments as well. She also shares her birthday with that of her fictional lead character - Harry Potter. While her Harry Potter series has sold more than 450 million copies around the world in multiple languages and has been adapted to a multimillion dollar film franchise, she has branched out from her original books. She has published a series of crime novels, starting with The Casual Vacancy in 2012, under the pen name Robert Galbraith; released a play on the Harry Potter series- ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ and is working on the third installment of a film franchise based on her book ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’. Rowling is also famous for being very interactive with her fans and often updates readers with new snippets about her novels, long after her first fans have entered adulthood. Her words continue to enchant readers, old and new, and readers all over the world will be wishing her the very best on her birthday and hoping the magic in her words live on.
