WHO says 'very high' risk of Omicron spreading globally, India tightens norms for international travellers

With a suspected case of Omicron strain of the coronavirus being reported from India, concerns are rising. Due to the new variant, many countries, including India are reviewing the relaxation in air travel norms. The variant of concern, that experts suggest has six times higher potential to spread than the Delta variant, has come at a time, when many countries in Europe are battling the fourth and fifth waves of the pandemic. The WHO, meanwhile, has said there is 'very high' risk of the variant spreading globally.
