Winter session of parliament started on a stormy note. Lok Sabha witnessed sloganeering during the Question Hour. It sought the release of detained Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah. MPs from the Congress, National Conference and the DMK protested in the well of the House against the instability in the Valley more than 100 days after the abrogation of Article 370. Relevantly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an address before the session started, said the government wants frank discussions on all matters. “It is important that there should be quality debates, he said.

Tehran Province governor Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian said that Iran is prepared for a prolonged war as tensions with Israel and the United States continue to escalate. During an interview from the capital, Motamedian said Iran has stocked massive amounts of goods at ports and supply routes to withstand a long conflict. He claimed the country’s infrastructure remains stable despite ongoing attacks, with no disruptions reported in electricity, water, fuel, gas, or communications. Motamedian also accused Israel of pursuing expansionist policies and warned that while the U.S. and Israel may have started the war, they will not be the ones to end it.
