Bengal Phase 2 Voting Turns Volatile with Clashes, EVM Row, Lathi Charge & Political Face-Offs

West Bengal’s second phase of Assembly elections witnessed 61.11% turnout till 1 pm amid rising tensions. Clashes, lathi charge incidents, and EVM malfunction complaints were reported across multiple locations. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari faced protests in Kolkata, while Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury raised concerns over faulty machines. The BJP also accused TMC workers of tampering with voting buttons. TVK Chief Vijay To Take Oath As Tamil Nadu CM On May 10, Trust Vote By May 13

TVK chief C Joseph Vijay is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium at 10 am. Vijay has secured the support of 120 MLAs after VCK and IUML extended unconditional backing to his party. On Saturday evening, he met the Governor at Lok Bhavan and submitted a letter informing about his election as the leader of the TVK legislature party, along with letters of support from Congress, CPI, CPM, VCK and IUML. The Governor subsequently appointed him Chief Minister and invited him to form the government, directing him to seek a floor test by May 13. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge are likely to attend the ceremony.
