Edgar Ramirez boards cast of 'Task' season two at HBO
Hollywood star Edgar Ramirez has joined the cast for the second season of HBO's critically-acclaimed crime drama series "Task".
In the second chapter, Ramirez will feature alongside Mark Ruffalo, who reprises his role of FBI agent Tom Brandis from the first season, as well as previously announced new additions Mahershala Ali, Harry Melling, Adam Nagaitis, and Aminah Nieves.
Ramirez is best known for starring in shows such as "The Undoing", "The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story", "Carlos" and "Dr. Death". He has also featured in films like "Emilia Perez", "Les Arenas" and "Jungle Cruise".
"Task" is created by Brad Ingelsby, who returned to HBO following his work on its Emmy-winning crime drama "Mare of Easttown".
The show's first season saw Ruffalo's Brandis forming a task force to track down a crew of masked robbers, led by a working-class family man, that were carrying out a series of violent crimes in the Philadelphia area.
In season two, Brandis takes the helm of a new task force, but the deeper the operation runs, the harder it is to tell who's the target, according to Variety.
Oscar winner Ali was recently cast as Eddie Barnes, a seasoned and well-respected DEA agent in Philadelphia whose team comes into conflict with the unit of Brandis.
Ramirez will essay the role of Miguel Contreras, who is described as "a devoted family man and loyal DEA second-in-command torn between duty and guilt".
Ingelsby is also writing, showrunning, and executive producing alongside Paul Lee and Mark Roybal, Jeremiah Zagar, Ruffalo, and Ron Schmidt. Nicole Jordan-Webber and Karen Wacker are co-executive producers.
