Elizabeth Banks wants to play a murder victim in 'The White Lotus' season 3
Actress-producer Elizabeth Banks has expressed her desire to play a murder victim in the upcoming season of HBO's The White Lotus. Speaking on Live With Kelly and Mark while promoting her new animated movie Migration, Banks shared her enthusiasm for a role on the hit murder mystery series.
During the interview, Banks revealed her dream of being murdered on The White Lotus and jokingly pleaded, "Kill me. Please, kill me." She directed her request to Mike White, the writer, director, and executive producer of the show. Host Kelly Ripa joined in, addressing the camera and urging White to cast Banks in either Season 3 or 4 of the series.
As reported by Deadline last month, casting for the third season of The White Lotus began immediately after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike on Nov. 9. The producers have sent offers to various well-known stars, and while no new cast members have been confirmed, Natasha Rothwell is set to reprise her role as Belinda in the upcoming season set in Thailand.
The third season of The White Lotus is expected to feature thirteen roles, with nine series regulars spanning ages from 18 to 80s. The storyline, set at a resort in Thailand, remains a mystery, and it is unknown which character will meet their demise.
Filming is tentatively scheduled to start in early February in Thailand. Mike White has teased that Season 3 will be a "supersized White Lotus," promising a longer, bigger, and crazier installment. The season, originally targeted for 2024, may be pushed to 2025 due to the recent strikes, according to HBO Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys.
Following the Season 2 finale, White shared that Season 3 will delve into the theme of "death in Eastern religion and spirituality." HBO's head of drama, Francesca Orsi, added that the season will explore the contrast between spirituality and ego, set against the backdrop of Eastern religion.
