Fans have long missed the elegance and effortless screen presence of veteran actor
Helen, and now she is finally making a comeback with the upcoming noir thriller ‘Brown’. While the series has already created buzz for marking Karisma Kapoor’s return to acting in a web project after ‘Mentalhood’ (2020), another major highlight is Helen stepping in front of the camera again after nearly 14 years.
Helen on returning to acting after 14 years
Helen admitted that being back on a film set after such a long break felt emotional and exciting. Speaking about her return, she shared with Mid-Day, “It’s been such a long time since I faced the camera. Returning to acting, even for a small role in 'Brown', has been delightful. Sometimes, it’s not about the length of the role, but the joy of being part of something special.”
The veteran star’s words reflect her deep love for cinema and the happiness she found in reconnecting with acting once again.
‘Brown’ - A noir thriller set in Kolkata
Directed by
Abhinay Deo, ‘Brown’ is slated to stream on Zee5 and revolves around Karisma Kapoor’s troubled alcoholic police officer investigating a series of horrifying murders in Kolkata. The dark and layered story explores emotions like trauma, redemption, and guilt.
Amid the grim atmosphere of the thriller, Helen’s role adds a refreshing touch of warmth and humour. Talking about her character, she revealed, “My character brings in moments of lightness and comic relief.
I’m so glad I was considered for this part, it gave me the chance to reconnect with my craft and relive the magic of being on set.”
The experience became even more memorable for Helen because of her co-stars, including Karisma Kapoor and
Soni Razdan. The legendary actor spoke fondly about working with them and said, “Working with Soni and Karisma was an absolute pleasure. I’ve known them both for years, and sharing the screen with them felt so natural and full of warmth.”
Singer Shaan makes his OTT acting debut
Apart from Helen’s comeback, ‘Brown’ will also introduce singer Shaan in a surprising new avatar. The popular singer is set to make his OTT acting debut with the crime drama.
Opening up about the opportunity, Shaan shared, “It’s a sweet role, but one that adds an emotional layer to the story. What made this project close to my heart is that it’s rooted in Kolkata. With so many Bengali nuances woven into the narrative, there were moments I could deeply relate to.”
