'Mercy for None', a crime noir thriller has been announced with an impressive ensemble cast. This upcoming series boasts of a starry ensemble and promising cameos.
On October 27, Netflix announced 'Mercy for None' with a constellation of talent, featuring none other than So Ji Sub, Heo Joon Ho, Ahn Gil Kang, Lee Bum Soo, Gong Myung, Choo Young Woo, and Jo Han Chul. Adding an extra layer of intrigue, special appearances are hinted by none other than Cha Seung Won and Lee Joon Hyuk.
Adapted from a webtoon, 'Mercy for None' is a tale of two rival gangs locked in a power struggle within the heart of Seoul, right before the National Assembly Plaza in Yeouido. The narrative orbits around a man's journey to unearth concealed truths after his younger brother's sudden demise.
So Ji Sub, celebrated for his roles in 'Master's Sun' and 'Oh My Venus,' steps into the shoes of Gi Jun, the lead character. Gi Jun decides to sever his ties with the underworld of gangs, albeit by inflicting a grievous wound upon himself. This marks a return for So Ji Sub to the gritty world of noir action after an 11-year hiatus since 'A Company Man.' His portrayal of Gi Jun's relentless quest for vengeance has already set the anticipation soaring.
Lee Joon Hyuk, renowned for his roles in 'Stranger' and 'The Roundup: No Way Out,' makes a special appearance as Gi Jun's younger brother, Gi Seok. After parting ways with his elder sibling, Gi Seok turns the organization Joowoon into a corporate giant, ascending to the rank of an executive director. However, his enigmatic demise unravels a new conundrum.
Heo Joon Ho takes on the role of CEO Lee Joo Woon, the leader of the organization Joowoon that once had Gi Jun within its ranks. Known for his riveting performances in works like 'Kingdom,' 'Escape from Mogadishu,' and 'Missing: The Other Side,' Heo Joon Ho injects his trademark charisma into the character. Choo Young Woo, acclaimed for roles in 'Police University,' 'School 2021,' and 'Oasis,' steps into the character of Geum Son. He's Lee Joo Woon's son and is currently distancing himself from the gang by working as a prosecutor. However, his unpredictable ambition promises to inject tension into the drama.
Lee Bum Soo, famous for his role in 'The Roundup: No Way Out,' portrays Shim Sung Won, who appears to have a connection with Gi Seok's death, serving as the CEO of Enclean, a company responsible for cleaning up crime scenes post-gang activities. Jo Han Chul, known for his work in 'Reborn Rich' and 'Casino,' assumes the role of Sung Chul, Lee Joo Woon's right-hand man, the one closest to the boss.
Cha Seung Won, celebrated for his performances in 'Believer' and 'Night in Paradise,' makes a special appearance as Mr. Kim, a character intricately intertwined with the coexistence of the two criminal organizations.
