Squid Game Season 3: Meet the cast - the final list of players

‘Squid Game’ has kept everyone on their toes from the very opening of the series. Recently season 2 was out and had some really good responses. With that as the news of Season 3 being out, the fans are excited to know the cast of this latest season. To satisfy your curiosity, here is the final list of players in ‘Squid Game’ Season 3.

2/12

1. Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun

Player 456 is the protagonist of the series from the very beginning of the series. He was created by series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk and portrayed by Lee Jung-jae, who was cast out of a desire to affect his reputation as a cool actor and show the humanity behind his role. Gi-hun takes multiple aspects from Hwang's life, including being his neighbour, his childhood friend, aspects of his uncle, and his own struggles with gambling and failure.

3/12

2. Lee Byung-hun as Hwang In-ho/the Front Man

He is the main antagonist of the series as the head of the Squid Game team, managing the competition of people in severe debt for a prise of 45.6 billion won. Previously he was a police officer and won the game himself in 2015, after which he disappeared from his previous life to become the Front Man. In the first season, he is shown to be organising the games. Later in the second season, he is disguised as a participant, going by Player 001, aka "Oh Young-il."

4/12

3. Wi Ha-joon as Hwang Jun-ho

He is a police detective that infiltrated the 33rd Squid Game by taking the identities of the staff members to look for his missing brother, Hwang In-ho. This led Jun-ho to find out not only what happened with his brother but also discover the horrors of the games themselves. Afterwards, he resolves to find the Squid Game island again to confront his brother in hopes of redeeming him and stopping the games.

5/12

4. Im Si-wan as Lee Myung-gi

He is a former social media influencer who ran a cryptocurrency channel called MG Coin. He promoted a scam cryptocurrency called Dalmatian, which led to financial ruin for him and his viewers, including his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Kim Jun-hee. He joins the Squid Game to try and recoup his losses and encounters Jun-hee again. He protects his ex-girlfriend and the unborn child throughout the game.

6/12

5. Kang Ha-neul as Dae-ho

He is a self-claimed former marine and contestant of the Squid Game. He is quickly established as a person with strong morals. Despite being an O voter, when informed by Gi-hun that Dalgona would be the next game, he suggested they all should select the triangle to pass the round. Furthermore, Dae-ho admitted he only planned to play one round and then switch his vote to X.

7/12

6. Park Gyu-young as Kang No-eul

In the start the audience learns her sole purpose in life is to find her child, from whom she has been separated under the most desperate of circumstances. However, Squid Game soon reveals there’s more to this former soldier, whose name translates to “sunset” in English, than viewers might suspect. The actor also went to tactical school to learn how to handle firearms like an expert.

8/12

7. Park Sung-hoon as Cho Hyun-ju

This new player will risk anything for an essential medical treatment. Hyun-ju quickly finds community with Squid Game players like Geum-ja and Jun-hee, and she will protect them like family. Hyun-ju appears caring towards every player except Seon-nyeo, to whom she seems annoyed by her religious breakdowns, and also Lee Myung-gi, whom she berated for inadvertently causing Young-mi’s death.

9/12

8. Yang Dong-geun as Yong-sik

He is the adult son of Jang Geum-ja, who enters the Squid Game competition in order to pay off his gambling debts. He remained close to his mother, who had joined with him, throughout the game and created alliances with other players. Although he listens to his mother most of the time, there are times he does not go with what she says, such as voting to continue the game because his debt was higher than what he initially told her.

10/12

9. Kang Ae-sim as Geum-ja

She is the elderly mother of Park Yong-sik. Introduced as an honest and opinionated woman with a fiery temper, she is later shown to be kind and empathetic, displayed by her voting to leave after each game, comforting Kim Jun-hee about her pregnancy, giving Jun-hee her own food when she noticed she was pregnant, and deeply consoling Gi-hun after his failed revolt attempt, which brought a lot of deaths, including his best friend's.

11/12

10. Jo Yuri as Jun-hee

Jun-hee is a considerate girl. She does her best to be independent but still needs help since she is heavily pregnant. She has an interesting relationship with Lee Myung-gi, her ex-boyfriend, who got her pregnant as he convinced her to buy a crypto that turned out to be a scam and then disappeared for 6 months to avoid people who wanted to kill him and avoided contacting Jun-hee to protect her, as he thought they could use her to find him.

12/12

11. Recurring characters

Includes Chae Kuk-hee as Seon-nyeo, a shaman past her prime who shares unnerving prophecies about her fellow contestants.

Lee David, as Min-Su, is a shy contestant who has trouble asserting himself. He enters Squid Game after falling victim to a housing scam.

Roh Jae-won, as Nam-Gyu, is a former club promoter who picks on the weaker Squid Game players. He uses cruelty as a way to impress those he views as stronger than him.

Jeon Seok-ho as Woo-Seok: Following the death of his beloved mentor in Season 2, Woo-Seok is committed to saving Gi-hun and ending the game. That dedication makes him an ally of Jun-ho.

Park Hee-soon as Masked Officer: this Squid Game officer has a game of his own that he’s playing in the arena. His past with No-eul complicates his scheme.
