Rank 1: Global passport leaders (Score: 194)

The Henley Passport Index, which ranks the world’s most travel-friendly passports, has released its list for 2024, with European nations of France, Germany, Italy and Spain, and Asia’s Japan and Singapore sharing the number one spot. The passports from these countries open doors to 194 destinations worldwide without the need for a prior visa.

Rank 2: Nearly universal access (Score: 193)

Finland and Sweden, along with South Korea, are now in second place. Holders of these passports enjoy extensive ease of travel, accessing 193 destinations around the world without needing to secure a visa in advance.

Rank 3: Wide-ranging freedom (Score: 192)

Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands share the third position. These passports provide high global mobility, allowing holders to explore 192 destinations worldwide with ease, bypassing traditional visa requirements.

Rank 4: Extensive travel ease (Score: 191)

The United Kingdom climbed two ranks to fourth place, reflecting an improvement from the previous year. Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, and Portugal, also hold the fourth position in the ranking with a visa-free score of 191.

Rank 5: High global mobility (Score: 190)

The Greek, Maltese, and Swiss passports are passports to the world, offering their holders high global mobility with access to 190 destinations. The score is a testament to the strong international standing and the universal appeal of these culturally rich and historically significant countries.

Rank 6: Broad travel opportunities (Score: 189)

Australian, Czech, New Zealand, and Polish passport holders get the liberty to enter 189 countries across various continents as they have ranked sixth on the list.

Rank 7: Significant global reach (Score: 188)

The passports of Canada, Hungary, and the United States are symbols of significant global reach, empowering their citizens with access to 188 destinations. They are at the seventh position in the global rankings by the Henley Passport Index.

Rank 8: Expanded travel privileges (Score: 187)

Estonian and Lithuanian passports endow their holders with expanded travel privileges, enabling entry to 187 countries, predominantly without the need for a pre-arranged visa.

Rank 9: Considerable travel freedom (Score: 186)

The passports of Latvia, Slovakia, and Slovenia are passports to considerable travel freedom, offering their citizens the ability to explore 186 destinations with ease. These are the rising stars in Eastern Europe's passport strength.

Rank 10: Notable global access (Score: 185)

Iceland, a small nation with a passport that opens doors globally, holds tenth position in the global rankings with a visa-free score of 185. This ranking not only reflects Iceland's unique geographical and cultural allure but also its significant role in international diplomacy and global cooperation.

India at 80th position

India, meanwhile, has improved its ranking and moved up to the 80th position from the previous year’s ranking of 84. Those holding an Indian passport have visa-free access to 62 destinations, including popular tourist destinations like Thailand, Indonesia, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Maldives.
