Hasan Piker reportedly under scrutiny over Cuba sanctions investigation

Hasan Piker is reportedly being looked into by U.S. officials as part of a larger investigation connected to Cuba. According to reports from Fox News Digital, the popular Twitch streamer received a “Request for Information” from the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). The request is linked to a March trip to Cuba that was organized through the “Nuestra América Convoy.” Officials are reportedly checking whether any U.S. laws or sanctions were broken during the visit.


The investigation is said to focus on whether activists illegally paid for travel, planned logistics, or made restricted transactions while in Cuba. Authorities are also reportedly looking into whether some travelers stayed at hotels that are included on the U.S. State Department’s restricted list. Reports claim the case is part of a wider federal crackdown involving several agencies, including the Treasury Department, Justice Department, and State Department. Sources told Fox News Digital that nearly 40 Americans could currently be under investigation.

Reports say Piker traveled to Havana with activists connected to Medea Benjamin and members of the activist group CodePink. The trip was reportedly tied to organizations connected to businessman Neville Roy Singham, who has previously been linked to left-wing political funding networks. Before the visit, Piker also reportedly posted online about the Cuba trip.





At this time, officials have not publicly accused Piker of committing a crime. A subpoena or request for information does not automatically mean someone is guilty. It simply means investigators are asking for documents, details, or answers as part of an ongoing inquiry.


The reports have already sparked strong reactions online because of Piker’s popularity as a political commentator and streamer. Known for openly describing himself as a socialist and Marxist, Piker has often discussed U.S. foreign policy and political activism on his platforms.


For now, the investigation appears to still be in its early stages, and more subpoenas or information requests could reportedly be issued in the coming weeks.
