Emergency crews rushed to the site following the explosion, while authorities launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.“This was a complex, fast-developing emergency situation,” AP quoted New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani saying.The area houses several commercial establishments, including a coffee roasting company and a self-storage facility. The shipyard was previously owned by the Bethlehem Steel Company, which built vessels for the US Navy during World War II.
